45th Union's STD (WIP) *Updated 4/4

Post by RoC77 » Thu Feb 10, 2011 12:03 pm

Just wanted to post my progress....

Image

The overall pic, of course some of the things shown here might change or be moved around later on.

Image

I opted for more of a tucked in guns on the sides than a sponson, shes pretty wide already and I didn't want to go too far out. I might change the guns though for something beefier.

Image

Turret is almost done, I like this latest revison of it, I just need to build the internals, the machine gun mount on top, and some dblay & black details....

Image

The small turret & driver's cockpit. These are going to be respaced.....

*UPDATE 2/15/11

So after tinkering about with some more weapon designs, I'm trying a quad gun inspired by the WH40K series.

*UPDATE 4/4/11

So I had some time this weekend to get some building done. I've had the tracks done awhile ago, but now the basic frame is done. As you can see it's going to be a much different profile than the previous STD.

I like where this is going. The basic shape and look feels right. I can't wait to see the finished tank. :D

I think around 26 x 40 x 16 studs, I haven't really measured yet, I'm just going by the pics above...

Great Tank Roc. The sheer size of it is rather intimidating. The weaponry it has is awesome as well.

The small gun turret by the cockpit is kinda weak... Change the barrels. I like the big gun though -- is it a Plasma Cannon or something?

Looking good Roc! Yet Im not really liking the main turrets barrel for some reason, also Natalya is right, its a tank, don't put the cockpit there, or even with windows. Keep it up!

The cockpit is fine, I was talking about the small gun turret...

Looking good so far. Not sure how you plan to fill in some of those gaps though...

@ Natalya: Yes actually, the main gun is a plasma cannon. The s/turret & the side guns are still flexible, I need to properly balance the weapon load out. I might turn the s/turret to a pair of chain guns.

@ BFenix: I was debating about a viewable cockpit, but I like the look of it so I might keep it, but the driver might be farther down and only stand up to be able to see through it. Also I might be placing it farther back, it's only temporarily there so I can get a visual for balancing the looks.

@ Theblackdog: Filling in the gaps is the easy part....
