'Crestguard' Forward Reconnaisance Attachment [Pic Heavy!]

Post by Olothontor » Thu Feb 24, 2011 11:00 pm

I've been a busy bee today.

The Crestguard is first and foremost a recon formation, designated and tasked with mapping out sectors of space for various and sundry military purposes.

Image

Accompanied by a total of 5 ships, the PM-Ad7 'Bold' Battle Cruiser is truly a sight to be seen.

Image

Alongside the 'Bold' is the 'Silkweaver', an agile, small-scale industrial Frigate designed for all-purpose tactical combat. Hosting a little bit of everything inside of its small hull, including scientific equipment and even a small self-sustaining garden, the 'Silkweaver' remains prepared for any situation.

Image

Image

The 'Bold' is also accompanied by 2 Escort-Class 'Vigilante' Heavy Weapons Cutters, each sporting a clearly visible ion cannon for anti-capital support. A wing of these could take on a fully-functional Destroyer, without any outside support.

The 'Silkweaver's escort, while not nearly as impressive as the 'Bold's entourage, still plays a vital role in the formation. The ZD-Ei4 'Blunt' Scientific Vessel creates the mainstay of the Attachment's non-combat operations. What little power these ships have during a fight, their orbital surveillance equipment and atmospheric sensory arrays make up for in full.

Some other shots, mostly of the 'Bold':

I felt like these all needed their own thread. I should probably write up some racial fluff, might do that with the next few ships (yes, there are more).

Edit: Also just realized that the 'Silkweaver' looks more like a Minifig-scale gatling tank turret than it does a ship. Oh well.

I like this formation. Nice shapes and good looking ships.

However, I must say my favorite is the Silkweaver. While I see the larger ship has lots going for it, the Silkweaver feels like a micro scale combat ship to me. :D

I really don't like the way I handled the back end of that thing... like I said, it reminds me very much of a minifig-scale tank turret.

Maybe I'll update it later on. I'll be sure to keep the microspace style you like about it, Hoboman. Thanks for the kind words!

Haha. Thanks for the comments, guys. Glad to have served my part well.

There is at least one more ship on the way this afternoon/evening, so keep your eyes peeled if you're interested.

Hehehe.

If I were home it would be posted already, but sadly I'm at school, with no LEGO contact whatsoever. Very saddening.

On the other hand, I'm using this time in-class to script a short Brikfilm starring the 'Bold' and her crew. It may be a while before it gets done, and I know NOTHING about Brikfilm so it'll take longer than normal. Don't get your hopes up yet, but I'll keep you guys posted (I also need to build some ship interiors and such, get some music, etc... so, yeah).

These are some of the best ships you've done so far, the level of detail on the Bold is amazing for its size.

I know I promised more ships, but Filesmelt isn't working and I'm out of time. For now I'm posting a new fleetwide pic, involving a couple of new ships, including a new Cruiser, sistership to the 'Bold'.

More detailed pics will be on their way later.

Oh, wow. These new ones are the best yet. I love the second cruiser and the little fighter/shuttle thing.
