Signature Figure

Post by White Nun » Mon May 23, 2011 6:59 am

This evening I got bored with increasing the Steampunkness of my gyrocopters so I thought I'd have a go at creating a Sig Fig for myself.

I'm reasonably happy with her, though I will repaint her katana to be a Bokken as I don't play with sharps anymore,

Nice looking, but the head is disturbingly pale, like she's about to faint or something.

I think either black or some tint of grey hands would work best. Then this fig would be excellent. Everyone knows nuns are freaking scary, and it fits the picture perfectly.

Edit: don't paint the sword. There's no room for pacifists or wooden swords in BrikWars! Seriously though, I think it works together with the rest too well the way it is now to change it.

Get a ruler for her. And the head is kinda weird with those yellow hands, if you swap them to black or grey it'll be good. Just as Bragallot said.

the head... is a little unnerving. and why would you prefer a wooden sword to a sharp one? uncomprehensible.

White Nun is white.

Minamoto Musashi was one of the greatest swordsmen who ever lived. He won at least 60 life or death duels and wrote the Book of Five Rings. And most of the time, he fought with a bokken that he carved from a piece of hickory wood. Just saying...

Yeah, but if the git had, had a real sword probably most of that 60 wouldn't have picked a fight to the death with hi... ah, yes, point taken. Carry on.

even so, real swords are sharp. and wooden ones aren't. that is a fact you can not deny.

I was trying to find white hands amongst my stock of bits last night, but it looks like I don't have any so I'll go with black ones (gloves). I still have my handmade katana so I know very well that real swords are sharp, but I haven't unwrapped it from its silk cover for a very long time now. And yes it was the legend of Minamoto Musashi that I had in mind when I thought I'd give my sig fig a bokken.

Back when I was doing Iadio I had taught myself how to make new sword hilts and mount blades correctly. I even did this very exacting work for other people who were pleased with my handiwork. As I said I don't play with sharp swords no more and now I use that same mental discipline in contemplative prayer instead.

I could also give my sig fig a bow as I was into archery too, but I was never any good at it.

Thanks for the feedback and comments :D

I'd like to see the following:
  • 6. The head painted with a black, gray, or red wimple under the white helmet.
    7. Gloves in matching color to the wimple.
    8. The katana painted wood color to look like a bokken, but THEN - over the wooden bokken - ruler markings so it can be a RULERBOKKEN.
