It's a bit too big of a scale for proper microspace I think, but it lets me do what I want to do with them. I also have a battlecruiser that I built to be a Britannian ship, but my brother liked it enough that he wanted it for his mercenaries. I may try to post both the figs I have for him and the ship at some point, but not right now.

Though it is too small to qualify as a proper fleet, Task Group Rho is still a powerful naval force capable of a great many independent operations. Task Group Rho in particular is graced with the presence of the Porphyrogenitus, heir to the imperial throne.

Task Group Rho is a small yet powerful force, centered on the battleship BNB Stavros. Its escorts include a pair of destroyers, BND Toxotis and BND Aspida, as well as the frigate BNF Hagia Hellena.

Stavros is more than five times the tonnage of Hagia Hellena, which itself is nearly triple the displacement of either destroyer.

Fast and relatively heavily armored for their size, the destroyers are armed exclusively with light, rapid-fire gravitic-acceleration kinetic penetrators. They can fire both solid KP rounds and Shredder loads. The latter are actually clusters of much smaller kinetic penetrators designed to fan out as they leave the barrel of the cannon, allowing them to saturate an area with potential impacts. Against lighter ships and strike craft, these can have deadly results, though their performance against heavy ship armor tends to lag behind the more concentrated mass of solid KP slugs.

The Basilikoi Navy Frigate Hagia Hellena is one of the new heavy frigate designs introduced as part of the military reforms under the current emperor. Rather than the lighter cruiser-scale turrets usually seen on such middle-weight ships, this new class packs a pair of battleship-scale turrets. This over-arming of the ship results in some problems for the maintenance crews, due to stresses on the ship frames when the guns fire for protracted periods of time, but the overall survival rate of the new frigate design is actually much higher than anticipated, possibly due to its unique combination of high speed and ridiculous firepower. Its point defense coverage is also a contributing factor to the design's success. Though frigate are traditionally independent commands, BNF Hagia Hellena was assigned to Task Group Rho that the Porphyrogenitus might have at his disposal a ship capable of operating away from the rest of the force.

The Basilikoi Navy Battleship Stavros is the flagship of the Porphyrogenitus. Its four powerful turrets can smash most enemy ships to pieces in a matter of a few volleys, while its point defense is adequate to provide a light anti-strike craft screen and to give it some protection against torpedo- and missile-armed foes. Aside from its overpowering main cannons, BNB Stavros' main strengths are its immensely thick armor made from layers of ceramics, reactive cloth, and carbon mono-filament weave, as well as its integrated flight deck. BNB Stavros can carry two flights of strike craft, in this case one each of fighters and bombers, allowing it to operate independently more so than many comparably-armed ships used by the various barbarian star nations surrounding the Basilikoi.

Fast, fragile, and lightly armed, fighters serve primarily to escort bombers on their runs and to screen heavy ships from enemy bombers and torpedoes. They lack the firepower to pose a serious threat to anything bigger than a light ship, but their small size, impressive maneuverability, and high speed let them gain the advantage over many enemy strike craft. Generally speaking, what they cannot out-gun they can outrun.

Bombers are slower, larger, more heavily armored, and more heavily armed than fighters. They are designed to be able to damage or destroy medium to large enemy ships, though their individual armament is light enough that the largest of vessels would likely be able to ignore the fire of a single bomber with relative impunity. That is in large part why they are trained to operate in wings of three bombers each, the concentration of fire allowing them to defeat much more robust opponents than otherwise would be possible.

I love these guys. The basic shape you chose is simple but the color blocking makes it look interesting. And it's a minor detail, but I really like the way you angled the point-defense guns on the frigate and cruiser in multiple different directions.

Awesome work with this one. I can't wait to see the Britannian ship.

EDIT: I just dropped by your mocpages gallery to take a look around. Why didn't you tell us you had a SHIP?!

Pretty fleet. It reminds me of those homeworld fleets everyone is always building. You also have a nice amount of dakka.

It is half-disassembled right now, with a better one maybe a third assembled, but I plan on redoing the whole thing yet again. If I find the time to get some actual work done on it, I definitely plan on posting pictures here.

While I am still not a big fan of the giant WWII turrets on space ships, I like the overall look of your ships. Nice use of the clear cheese wedges as the fighters.

Nice Work. :D

Yes, - why didn't you mention your SHIP because it's absolutely amazing. The interior details are beautifully designed and downright impressive.

This is what I would call Empire scale.

EDIT: I also love the fighters and bombers.

Pretty blocky, but nice overall. Good job.

I can appreciate the fluff as well.

AMAZING SHIPS!!!

You have just re-inspired me to create a fleet of micro-scale ships.

Also, love the kinetic weapons. That's what I plan to use on my ships, too.
