Mechs I've made recently

Had these done during the semester, but didn't have time until today to photograph them and post them.
First, a mech for the UPA. They needed ground forces, I needed to build a mech.
The gun's not all that special. I threw it together quick because it had no dakka. Was thinking maybe making a giant chaingun instead.
Back showing the simple joints. They can hold the weight easy, but the knees tend to swivel a bit too much if it's weighted wrong.
It has pretty good posability. He can stand without a plate, but it's easier with one.
Here's the other one that I made. Not affiliated with anything. Just wanted to mess around with skeleton parts. He also needs more dakka, but I haven't made a gun that suits him yet.
I thought of him kind of like a race of automatons, like Warforged or the voodoo dolls from 9. This is the old cranky one.
The base of his torso is made from a tricycle frame. The rest is mostly just robot and skeleton parts with some various clips. I liked the clothes and stuff on him, gave him personality.
He can also stand on his own without the flying stand, but it is hard. He doesn't have a lot of posability, but there aren't any "illegal" connections.

The mech is great and definitely has that APU feel to it. Now you only need to attach some more dakka to it and preferably a melee weapon. The automaton, man, looks incredible. You might aswell put a sign in its face saying "NPU"! Good job!

The Automaton is very nice, like you said reminiscient of 9. I'm not sure how much I like your mech though, Although it is better then most things I could build, I think you should bulk up the hands.

Thanks. I'm planning to do more of them in that style and make them like old gods or something.
The arms on the mech gave me a lot of trouble. I wanted them bulkier, but I wanted the to be posable, too. I settled on this after trying to make actual fingers, but I might come back to it.

Curse you fingers,
WHY MUST YOU BE THE BANE OF MECH DESIGN?!?!

It always ended up with giant gorilla arms, too, which I didn't like.

Sweet build's! I like the second one the most with the mix of the clothing. Btw is it hiding another weapon behind the codpiece?

I like the first mech, it's chunkiness gives it a lot of character, as does the cowboy hat. As for the second one, the beard is kinda odd.

I disagree. I think the beard is great, and really adds to the character of the mech. I love how 'fat' they both seem, and the second one looks almost like a stylized god of sorts. As for the first one, it's great. The rollcage is nicely integrated, and there are some nice little things to break up the flatness of the frame. I'm also a fan of the arms, because they're there mainly to serve as things to put weapons on, and they don't look small with a large gun attached
great job!

You can't put fingers on mechs any more than you can on minifigs, you just have to use claws until you get to the point where the hands are about an inch and a half in size, then you can try to have a few fingers, but you need even bigger hands to get a full five.

I like the mechs, especially the skeletal one. The gun on the other one is fine -- it looks like an automatic grenade launcher, a very suitable weapon for a mech. In fact, one of my own mechs is armed with a similar weapon.
