Star Wars Army Codex
Happy holidays, guys!
I write to you in order to solicit your creative help! This New Year I will be hosting my first Brikwars game for myself, my friend and his 10 year old son (my kid is far too young for LEGO, sadly). My friend's kid loves the "Clone Wars" animated series. To that end, we will be using an army of Clone Troopers (just a couple of 5 man squads w/Sergeants, really) and an army, or battle-group if you will, consisting of bounty hunter/rebel/separatist/space pirate aliens of all sorts.
I would love some help coming up with some stats for the characters and troopers, much like in the "Encyclopedia Medievo" thread. Perhaps we can extend this thread beyond just a bit of help into a fully-blown Star Wars: Clone Wars / Star Wars Canon and related sci-fi Brikwars troop/vehicle/army stat repository.
All your help is greatly appreciated!

I can send you a PM with all of my Republic and CIS stats. I have stats for literally almost every set they've made.

Re: Star Wars Army Codex
For clones, I'd just do standard minifig stats, and standard weapon stats for their respective guns. For the sergeants, I'd maybe give them a +1 to armor and skill.
For battle droids, I'd suggest standard weapon stats, but each droid has a -1 to armor, due to the fact that in the cartoon they get smacked around like they're rag dolls. For the super battle droids, standard heavy weapon stats, and a +1 to armor. As for vehicles, just imagine what armor sounds right, as well as damages and skill ratings for their weapons.
Also, don't call it a "codex", this ain't WH40K buddy.

the empire is hidden, but it is not hiding. it is waiting. and like a sleeping giant will wake with consequences as of yet unseen in the brikverse. unimaginable destruction will ensue leaving ruins in its trail.

Just... don't make it too complex. There can be some ridiculous stat boosts, like Azshuran's there.

Re: Star Wars Army Codex
Ross Varn is lying. Playtest the supernatural rules with your jedi/sith!
They're right here, and I'd suggest giving jedi between 1d6, 1d8, and 2d6 supernatural dice in their pool. If you just want to keep it simple, a force jump can be as high as half of whatever you've rolled from your dice pool, force speed runs as far as you roll, and a force push would be UR: 3 and push as far as the jedi could when in melee (2+whatever they roll), or -1" of push for every inch away that the target is (unless you use another die for range!). Be creative!
Making droids only have 1 armor is fun if you have significantly more droids than clones, and especially if your friend's son is the clones. Any damage they take
Different aliens could have something like acid blood (ongoing 1d4 damage to anything it touches that dissipates once a 1 is rolled), wallwalking or different move speeds, or even berserker (free melee attack for downing an enemy).
In short, only use complicated rules if they're fun enough to remember.

Wait, do your droids have a "-1" armor score, a "3" armor score, or do you roll them as a "1d6-1" armor score?Robot Monkey wrote:For battle droids, I'd suggest standard weapon stats, but each droid has a -1 to armor, due to the fact that in the cartoon they get smacked around like they're rag dolls.
I was thinking my own droids would have "2" armor... but that's because I thought you could only lower it to 2...

Exactly. Going all "but battle droids absorb bullets because they're made of steel" fanboy is the other end of the spectrum.IVhorseman wrote:In short, only use complicated rules if they're fun enough to remember.

Re: Star Wars Army Codex
i'm not saying "they all absorb bullets". just give'em armor rating 5 or 6 or what ever seems reasonable enough. obviously if you're playing a little kid then yea, bump it down to 2. let'em enjoy it

Thank you for the insightful and awesome ideas / responses / advice, guys! I shall certainly utilize them in the coming battle. I was wondering, however, is there a place I could look up the denominations of LEGO clone troopers? As in what does a Sergeant looks like? Who wears the one-sided collar things and "skirts"? Which ones are pilots? How can you tell, etc.? I want to be as accurate as possible in my representaiotn of the clone troopers and such.
Thanks in advance for all your ongoing help!

Brickipedia would probably be your best bet man, and I do know that the latest Clone Battle Pack isn't a good army builder since the two orange guys are bomb squad troopers.jorgevorg wrote:Thank you for the insightful and awesome ideas / responses / advice, guys! There are extremely few bullets in the SW universe. They mostly use lazers.
I think it's important to make the battle droids a little bit weak and let the kid have fun. You and your friend can crack open a few beers and let him enjoy it. Or you could focus your energy on making the funniest deaths for the bad guy bounty hunters and rebels.
I remember one of the few times I was Dungeon Master for a D&D game and we had a guy who wasn't too into it and he was a rogue archer and the dice would not work in his favor. He was about to give up the whole game but then he rolled a natural 20 so I said that he fired the arrow and as usual it went in some strange direction not even close towards the monsters but somehow it bounced off the wall, well past monsters, rebounded, etc and hit one of the goblins right in the eye and killed him instantly. After that this guy was so into the game for the rest of the night because of that one cool/funny thing he did.
If you can do something like that for your friend's son he may decide he really likes the game even if the rules are a bit tough for him or it takes too long, etc.
