hey everyone, i know its been a while since i posted anything new, I've been busy with work and other hobbies. either way, i did find time over the weekend to build a couple of transport vehicals, one being a heavyduty off road transport truck and the other being a mid sized helicopter.

First, we have the truck, i call it the "can o whup-ass", wanna open it?

And here we have the mid sized transport helicopter. it kind of favors the Blakhawk, but it is slightly smaller in scale, but it can still fit 6 passengers. i still need to get more pictures of this one since i did a little updating after these were taken.

I still havent come up with a name for it yet, but i am open to suggestions.

Nice stuff! And for the helicopter, how about "Can Opener of Doom"?

hmm, its a thought, lol.

Awesome. I really like the truck, though I was upset when the top didn't just pop up to reveal a giant missile launcher.

These are some great vehicles.

Is that working suspension I see on the truck? If so lets see some articulation shots!

the suspension does indeed work, but it really doesn't weigh enough to articulate properly. at least not on its own. i was thinking about changing out the shocks in it for some of the lighter sprung shocks i have, that might help, but i wont know until i get home from work tonight.

this one started as kinda of a random idea. i had the toy story 3 garbage truck and i like the cab, but couldnt figure out how to use the truck as it was since i took the garbage section off for parts. it sat around for a while as just a cab and chassis. then i though, i want a desert racing/transport truck. i had to tear apart most of the chassis, the only original bit isthe rails under the cab. the front suspension was hard to get right, i wanted it to look good at full hight, but i also wanted the wheels to stay under the wheel arches when compressed. a bunch of messing around with angles and math later, i got the front working and moved to the rear. the back half of the chassis was removed and the rear linkages were attached farther forward. the point where the shocks mount is rear most part of the chassis now. the hard part with the rear was getitng the proper angle where i had suspension travel, but the back didnt stick way up in the air and the control arms didnt hit the frame. i am pretty satisfied with how it came out though. i still want to do some more work to it, but as it sits, i like it.

Future plans include a gunner position on top behind the cab and then finishing the roof on it with 1x8 smooth tiles.


the helicopter might get a slight overhaul as well, mainly to get the colors a bit more even and matched, lol. its not quite , but its not far off either. i was also working with a limited supply of parts when i built it as i was too lazy to get off my ass to get more from the other room.

i got bored tonight, dl'ed the new ldd and build the truck in there, also in different colors.

Nice work on both of them. I especially like the truck -- it looks like a civilian garbage or tanker truck, right up until the squad of armed troops pops out.

thats one heavy duty tanker, lol.

i would actually like to build one or two more of these trucks. i really like it, especially if i can build it like i did in LDD.

changed some more colors, lol. i guess i shouldn't be drinking and building.

also, anyone know how to get a parts list in ldd? i thought the old version had that feature, but i can't remember, lol.
