okay. why no brik shoggoth or deep one furfigs? that would work and be far more thematic than just lego cthulhu. we could totally do a forum battle in non euclidean geometry! I could use some 40k terrain and dnd items to simulate alien constructs! hell, it would make more sense do to the nature of hp lovecraft and the otherworldliness of it all. I have a mission now! IA IA CTHULHU PHTAGN! (and I got some epic eldritch horror miniatures I could paint)

All my IRL friends are into neither wargaming nor Lovecraft. It sure is nice that I've found a community where BOTH are celebrated. But, yeah, what Brag said about Cthulhu being more popular. I've found a lot of people know who Cthulhu is, but not H.P. Lovecraft (just found a funny Instagram post the other day about someone thinking he was a Minecraft YouTuber). Also, Hastur and The King in Yellow are even more obscure than Lovecraft. I've read 95% of Lovecraft's stuff and even I haven't read any of Robert W. Chambers' stuff (that WILL change when I have the time though.)

Hastur is an outer god, in the cthulhu mythos (or in yog sothothery as HP. lovecraft called it)Hastur came first, and inspired hp lovecraft a bit. alright. painted star spawn of cthulhu and a gug. we are doing this in a month or less. maybe not a forum battle but I will try to make it one. estimated date the 2-3 of february.

I bought the shoggoth fight set. I thought it was a 2x4, but it acted like a technic rod!

BrikWars runs on an engine of and . We've got brikthulhu instead of brik shoggoth because somebody was excited enough about brikthulhu to put in that effort, and nobody's been excited enough about brik shoggoths to put in that effort. That's the only reason anything does or doesn't happen here.

If you put in the effort then we'll have brik shoggoths, simple as that. If you decide you aren't that excited, don't ask why no one else has been either.

okay. I painted the miniatures because most of hp lovecraft's monsters are alien and incomprehensible, and i like the idea of minifigs encountering miniatures and thinking they are alien and incomprehensible. I understand your point. besides, this is an administrative forum and I am getting off topic.

Okay but I'm not done thinking about shoggoths yet. We had a form of shoggoths known as Awful Things in editions past - just piles of bricks stuck together at random and constantly changing shape. They looked like this:



BrikWars is a lot more tactile than standard miniatures allow for; painted minis are pretty (yours are very nice, somehow I missed seeing the photos until just now) but they can't change shape or pose or grab things the way that BrikWars units require. If I were going to put shoggoths on the field they'd be all play-dough and googly eyes.

ahh. maybe not shoggoth but.. OKAY I AM INSPIRED. I still think using miniatures for more formed eldritch horrors is funny, but I should move to another forum. goodbye comrades.
