I don't think that's absolutely true. Awesome Metal has been delivered in the last couple of years. 2016 hasn't ended and we're still expecting some (probably) great albums.Duerer wrote:Finished Decision Day by Sodom. Maybe it's just because I generally have difficulties to appreciate most stuff released in the current decade, yet I have no clue why.
What I do agree with is that really old bands keep making new records despite having ran out of steam a decade ago or more. The result is really poor, and like you said, bland music from dudes that should've stopped squeezing the money out of their previous fame and prestige. It's understandable why they do it; everyone needs to make a living, but it's just wrong and tons of people end up buying their new stuff anyways just because of the name.
That being said, I don't believe Sodom are completely guilty of this, but IMHO, after M-16 (with a few exceptions like In War and Pieces maybe) they started burning out. So unfortunately, this doesn't really surprise me.
