Start at 3:00 if you want.
At 3:40 you get to hear just the guitar.

Nah, don't think so.

It's a fairly recent front that has been gaining alot of popularity, mainly among younger metalheads. The overall "cleaner" aesthetics from the bands' looks to the sound make a derivation from the "classic" Metal feel that is pretty appealing, apparently. However a byproduct of the sub genre has been developed from the Metal elitist; Meshuggah-worhsiper, Periphery-hater, major gearhead and audiophile, all about 'fuck groove - endless blastbeats' where polyrhythms and high-end technical riffs are the law. You might not want to play Black Metal around these guys otherwise they'll literally melt from the lack of sound quality and mastering.

I like Djent for its differences, as most sub genres (that's what makes Metal great) but it can easily turn me off when it gets over-produced, over-computerized and starts lacking the raw human element to it.

The way the that wooden guitar only has one thick string kind of reminds me of this.

I dunno, I sort of like Djent. Although the demonstration in that video was kind of "meh".

Djent is not a thing. There is only progressive metal.

And shovel metal:

It has been a thing since Meshuggah started using the term as an onomatopoeia, it definitely got a bit out of hand and escalated into its own scene, though. You got plenty of bands that are prog in nature but they don't sound djent.
