Battle of Blackstone Fort (TONS OF PICS)

Post by gaunt » Sun Jul 17, 2016 3:02 pm

The following is a battle report of a conflict between the Sarmatians and the Royal Imperium. Some of the early stages of the battle are poorly lit, just to warn you.

Rough backstory: The Sarmatian Federation is holed up in Blackstone Fort, an old castle that has been repurposed for nefarious use. The castle lies next to a small trading village, and alongside a forest with a river running on the edge. Here are some overview shots of the battlefield:

Image

Image

The castle:

Image

The Sarmatians are in the fort, as well as camped outside of it, wary of enemies. One cavalryman is out on patrol.

Image
Image

Unbeknownst to them, a scouting party of Imperial Super Heavies is in the village.

Image

The unsuspecting cavalryman hears something, but when he turns the corner he gets fried by the squadleader's Tesla gun!

Image

The Sarmatians sound the alarms and rise to battle!

Image

The mighty war priest and the Tribal Leader, The Painted One, prepare their rituals for battle.

Image

The war priest summons fire and casts it upon his warrior, but the Painted One is unscathed! Surely a sign of victory!

Image

The troops muster to defend the fort.

Image

Soon the rest of the Imperial forces arrive. The commander is holed up in the red building, and a mech comes for support.

Image
Troops in the village:
Image

A squad of space knights and some superheavies on the left flank:

Image

Sarmatians advance through the forest, with cavalry at the rear.

Image

Imperials advance:

Image

First attack by the superheavy

Image

meant at arms advance under machine gun fire

Image

Sarmatian gets killed:

Image

But, his buddy gets revenge as he rips into a superheavys chest:

Image

Machine gunner decapitates a man at arms:

Image

A well placed cannon shot from the mech destroys 3 Sarmatians and scatters a few others:

Image

Tesla gun manages to disable this Sarmatian's firearm, but nothing else:

Image

Beamsword guards advance under a hail of fire from the castle wall.

Image

Sarmatians take shots at the mech, doing minimal damage:

Image

Some shots find their mark, with the Beamsword champion and a superheavy being gunned down:

Image

Superheavy impales a warrior:

Image

His friend fires at him, but the shot only grazes the heavy's power armor

Image

Space knights advance, killing one warrior:
Image
But they lose one of their own:

Image

Soon the left flank erupts in a melee:

Image

The mech advances, crushing a Sarmatian and picking up another, preparing to grind him with his chainsaw hand:
Image
Image

He is promptly dismembered and laid to rest on a tree:

Image

The Painted One uses his heroic feat to leap from his horse, gun blazing, charging the mech:

Image

Meanwhile the combat in front of the castle continues, with cavalry advancing.

Image

Some Imperial shots find their mark, disemboweling a Sarmatian on the wall:

Image

Charging cavalry trample the last superheavy

Image

A beamsword guard answers the tide of battle by slaying a warrior:

Image

This guy loses his head:

Image

On the other side, the Painted One is able to kill the pilot, and the mech comes crashing down in a fiery manner, killing a Sarmatian guard:

Image

The melee continues.
The Painted One re-mounts and rides on, and in the back of the melee an explosive trooper begins to push forward:
Image

Image

His friends have been destroyed, so it's time for a last-ditch effort:

Image

He lunges forward, an a massive explosion blows his arm off, killing the explosive man as well as a space knight and the champion.

Image

The remainders of the Sarmatian force push forward, killing a space knight and forcing the last knight to flee:

Epic action, epic gore, epic shots. This battle is just :excellent:

can't wait till part 2!!! I also love your mix of melee and ranged combat, its awesome. I can't do that sadly as most of my melee stuff goes to fantasy factions.

PART TWO:

(I lost the order of these pics, so it was incredibly difficult to piece them together in the proper sequence. Bear with me)

Cavalry charge at the men-at-arms squad on the left:

Image

One horseman throws his axe- direct hit! TO THE FACE:

Image

The painted one shoots the retreating Space knight in the back.

Image

On the other side, a rocket trooper takes aim at the machine gun emplacement...

Image

BOOM
Image

Back on the left, the men-at-arms get their revenge on the horseman:

Image

The general leaves his headquarters:

Image

But another man at arms is speared! poor feller

Image

Soon, the troops get revenge though:

Image

On the other side near the castle, things are heating up.

Image

Image

A small warband led by the priest makes their way sneakily on the edge of the fort:

Image

The dismounted horseman gets up to fight, and the rocket trooper gets shot in the foot:

Image

His buddy get's blammo'd:

Image

Back on the left, the Painted one charges forth, guns blazing:

Image

right side:
Image
cavalry chap gets dismembered
Image

Painted One tramples a trooper:

Image

The Imperial General and his troops take him off his horse, but he is fine:

Image

On the castle side, the war priest and his band get locked in combat:

Image

Gunners on the wall claim more victims:

Image

The war priest guts a beamsaber guard and his troops sally forth:

Image

The infantry captain responds by blowing off a warrior's head:

Image

The man at arms with an MG takes down a Sarmatian, and the two heroes charge into melee:

Image

The Sarmatians advance, and one shoots the man at arms in the chest:

Image

The duel continues.

Image

The infantry captain overpowers the priest and runs him through with his sword!

Image

On the other side, another hero duel is underway:

Image

Image

The Painted One, in a moment of strength, lops off the arm of the General! He bleeds profusely:

Image

His retinue runs away like a bunch of scaredy-pants. The Painted One is going full Ooga Booga on them and they crap themselves.

Image

Back by the castle, the Captain makes his final stand:

Image

A dirty no good Sarmatian fires at him from behind:

Image

And he crumples to the ground, without a head. Victory for Sarmatia!!

Image

The only survivors, sans the 2 Imperials who ran away:

Image

Victory for the Sarmatians.

Sorry for the lack of fluff and average commentary. A bunch of photos were supposed to be in there, but the order got scrambled and some of them were not very important to the overall flow of the battle. At any rate, hope you enjoyed my 1st legit battle report.

Glad you liked it!

I realized on second look that some of the photos are massive, due to an error where I uploaded the pics twice. I resized them but the duplicates must be huge. Apologies

I have had entire battles where the pictures were lost, so I understand. It was still a fun battle report to read though, and I enjoyed it. Hope to see more from you in the future!
