The Collapse of Vostok

Post by Kastrenzo » Sun Feb 16, 2020 1:27 pm

Following the death of the Molochite Vorhut's holy Phoenix, an apparent plot by the Svoboda Clan... the Vorhut's new Phoenix has launched a campaign to root out and exterminate any and all Svoboda cells in retialliation for their treachery

A cell in the neighboring plate of Zapad has narrowly escaped Molochite forces and rushed into Vostok, Carrying vital Intel for their faction

The Svoboda sabotage the gate connectors, cutting off any persuers from crossing plates by ground, But they quickly discovered that teleporters are blocked in Vostok..they possess a transponder that they can use to call for extraction..

Vostok is in a state of near anarchy, A cargo ship has exploded over the plate, Many civilians have fled, Looters have stolen parts from gate connectors, rendering them useless and preventing anyone from coming or leaving by ground.. The local OSKOM unit has barricaded itself around it's facility and are not willing to venture out, and local citizens have gathered into small camps around the city, Given the lawlessness of the plate, the Syndikat has sent uniformed security forces to protect their assets.. And their mercenaries have fortified their bank, as well as entering a standoff with the OSKOM units

OSKOM and Syndikat units are for the most part not looking to fight each other, but any wrong move could cause a shootout, the Syndikat have further compounded the transit problem in Vostok, installing a Teleport Inhibiter, The nearby L-Gate is blocked from recieving any non-Syndikat travellers, and personal teleporters do not work, as Svoboda discovered. Local looters probably hold the amethyst cores necessary to fix the plate connectors..

The Svoboda have to get out of Vostok, but no clear path is open. Moloch Vorhut persuers can still reach them by dropping units by Fleetships, And they will be here en masse, soon. They have several options of escape, but none of them are easy, and there will be precious little time to think about it

Image20200215_022423 by Kastrenzo, on Flickr
1. deploying the transponder onto the roof of any 2 story building would be enough to call for help, but whoever arives will have to then defeat the Vorhut, and possibly the Syndikat too in a military confrontation.3

Image20200215_022555 by Kastrenzo, on Flickr
2. If the inhibitor is destroyed, a single Svoboda unit could reach the L-Gate and escape, accomplishing their mission

Image20200215_022301 by Kastrenzo, on Flickr
3. Potentially the quickest, but most risky route to success is to repair the gate connectors and escape on foot. Local Looters likely hold some if not all of the teleporter cores necessary to fix the connectors, But Svoboda would first have to fight through the gas station they are using as a base, risking life and limb. And they will be at a severe disadvantage when Vorhut units arrive

to be continued in next post

The Svoboda player will have 2 turns to get into position. Their units will have stealth capability and have veteran/specialist status, meaning they roll D8s
Stealth units are not targetable unless spotted, to spot a stealth unit line of sight must be made, and the two sides roll their skill dies to determine if they're spotted or not. any units in the immdieate vicinity are also spotted

To go back into stealth, a unit must go an entire turn without being in the line of sight of enemy, and must make no attacks

Armies and Objectives

Svoboda Starts with a tiny cell of specialists, a stolen mining truck with precious cargo, and a drone
They can either
A> take their transmitter to a 2nd story rooftop and call for help, and then confront the Vorhut in a stand up fight (Determinant) * More on this below
B> attempt to push through and destroy the Syndikat teleport inhibor, and escape back to safety (Major Victory)
C> repair the plate connectors, and continue fleeing to a neighboring plate by ground (Minor Victory)

Moloch Vorhut will begin landing troops and vehicles by Fleetship on turn 3, they will have large numbers and considerable firepower,
Their objectives are
A > Kill or capture all Svoboda Heretic terrorists (Minor victory)
B > Kill or capture all Svoboda Heretic terrorists, and seize control of this Plate for Holy Moloch by destroying the OSKOM and Syndikat (Major Victory)

Syndikat Starts with a moderate force, and will recieve reinforcements via L-Gate if they are attacked by Vorhut on or after turn 3
They can win victories for themselves while the others fight. but they must survive, by the time Vorhut and Svoboda are done fighting...
A > Control the bank, ensuring no hostiles made it inside (Minor victory)
B > Control the bank, ensuring no hostiles made it inside, And have control of a majority of the buildings in downtown, including the hospital, the string of small businesses, and the Grey Nanoforge store, ensuring that this plate becomes a Syndikat Asset (Major victory)

If Svoboda calls for help and tries to fight it out

They will recieve moderate reinforcements of their own faction to be dropped in by ship, they are not as powerful as Vorhut but may be able to defeat them in urban guerilla warfare.

However, a D6 will be rolled to determine if anyone else interecepts and interferes with the fight. if this happens, a FOURTH PLAYER will be invited to join

1 - Nothing happens, No one, friend or foe chooses to come and help
2 - The Armata Alliance will deploy moderate forces, and fight the Vorhut
3 - The First Echelon will deploy moderate forces, and fight the Syndikat
4 - The Stroiteliga Bratva will deploy considerable forces, and fight Syndikat and Vorhut
5 - The Black Legion will deploy considerable forces, and fight -everyone-
6 - The Monolith Imperiya will deploy HEAVY Forces, and do whatever they damn well please, hostile to everyone.

For the sake of time, I will provide a quote box with a brief rundown of what happened, followed a cluster of pictures, no more than 6 at a time, this may of course take more clusters per turn depending on what happens, sometimes clusters may be seperated by player, sometimes joined together

TURN 1
Svoboda unloads the transponder and leaves a fighter inside the truck for later use, the rest of them take the transponder, followed by their drone, through the buildings and into the shanty town

Image20200221_202732 by Kastrenzo, on Flickr

Syndikat Mercenaries leave their position on the bank rooftop and go into the street, a Mercenary officer attempts to talk down the OSKOM police, trying to sway a truce between them, he fails, and the police go to shoot him, but the cops critfail, and as a result, a fight breaks out between multiple officers, disrupting them.

TURN 2
Svoboda move towards the lone tall house in the area, clambering over junk and other debris left in a pile in the road
Image20200222_205757 by Kastrenzo, on Flickr
Syndikat performs a hostile takeover of nearby small business by kicking down their doors and raiding them with heavily armed Mercs. Who take up defensive positions once inside.

The Syndikat Tank fires at the police barricade with the intent to kill... however the barricade absorbs most of the damage and is destroyed, but saving nearby officers at the cost of stunning and disrupting them.. The Officer tries again and is successful in forcing their surrender, all OSKOM officers at the barricade surrender but others either retreat, or fire back at them from the rooftops, no casualties on either side

Still kind of turn 2, this took place between 2 and 3
A ship flies overhead, and lands recklessly in the street, a generic transport model painted in Red and orange, The Vorhut is here!

The vehicle lands with a crash, the doors open, and a platoon of Molochite conscripts and heavy Paladins exit before the ship exits to pick up more troops.

Image20200222_221044 by Kastrenzo, on Flickr
"FREEEEDOOOM" the Svoboda driver cries as she floors the gas pedal on the truck and careens through some bush and slams right into the Vorhut formation, several units dodge out of the way but the truck still manages to pancake a chosen and three paladins before slamming into a bus stop

Svoboda are successful in deploying the transponder and calling for help, a small spacecraft will fly overhead and drop supplies to fix the plate connectors, and Svoboda reinforcements will begin to enter next turn, remaining Svoboda units barriacde their positions with nearby junk

unfortunately, their message was intercepted by nearby parties, Militias loyal to the Monolith Imperiya have overheard and attempted to investigate only to find the plate connectors are destroyed... they call for air units to investigate..

Syndikat continue aggressively convincing the police to join their side, but not much else happens downtown, Police riflemen on the roof finally take out one of the Mercs

A crate with teleporter crystals "miraculously" falls from the sky... Vorhut soldiers use them to repair the plate connectors, and reinforcements start marching into the plate

Their first course of action is to purge the citizenry camped out at the gas station, they are mown down like grass. The Svoboda driver is also pulled out of her truck and shot.

a dropship carries engineers who fix the connectors, and light auxillary troops are the first to enter the plate in their armored trucks.

local teleporters are still blocked in vostok, so the Imperiya drops a cargo pod from a nearby SHIP, loaded with a teleporter into the neighboring region of Zapad, and troops start to pour out of the teleporter. First up are a unit of Militia from the Sindrian Diktat, an Imperiya ally. Land vehicles will also begin to be deployed in Zapad before moving into Vostok
