[HH22] Attack on the Chancellor

Not too long ago in a galaxy far, far away...

Somewhere in the Brikverse there is a Republic that spans a whole galaxy and has existed for a long time. Curiously enough, there exist two distinct groups within the Republic, the 'Old Guard', with their simplistic clothing and facial expressions, and the 'New Order', with their extravagant apparel and expressive features. For decades, these two sects have remained at peace with each other, with the Chancellor of the Republic and many higher ups being part of the Old Guard. Recently, however, each side has grown more suspicious of the other as the New Order seems to continue to grow at a steady rate, whereas the Old Guard is slowly outnumbered.

Star Date: October 31st, 573
Planet: Republic Capital Planet: Corosant
Location: The Chancellor's Office


The Chancellor has convened a secret meeting with the Old Guard members of the Jedi.



Chancellor: "I'm sure you all have heard the rumors that the New Order is plotting to overthrow us, now that they outnumber us by a large disparity. I've called this meeting to discuss this issue."



Yoda: "Worrying, this is. If true, these rumors are, let them succeed, we cannot."



Chancellor: "Agreed. But the question now is how?"


'door opens'



Count Dooku: "Commander, what are you doing here?"



Commander Cody: "Sir, the New Order has gotten wind of this secret meeting, and they don't seem too happy."



Yoda: "Very unfortunate, this is."



Chancellor: "In light of this turn of events, our best option at this time seems to be executing Order 13."



Qui-gon Jinn: "There has to be a better solution! We should not have to resort to that unless all else fails."



???: "Well, well, well..."



Windu: "The Chancellor conducting a secret meeting without our knowledge?"



Windu: "In the name of the Galactic Senate,"



Windu: "You are all under arrest for plotting against the Republic and the New Jedi Order."





Chancellor: "It's treason, then."


'lightsabers ignite'

Overwatch:



13 members of the New Order vs 12 leading members of the Old Guard.

The New Order's objective is to eliminate the Chancellor, while the Old Guard's objective is to hold out for 4 Turns to allow the Chancellor to escape.

Old Guard



Count Dooku: "Get behind us!"


Both groups of Jedi rush towards each other, laser swords ignited.


The two side clash in a flurry of light and sparks!


Safely behind the Jedi, the two shook troops open fire on their New Order counterparts.


Killing one.


Commander Cody aims for Mace, but the Jedi easily deflects his attack.


Lastly, the Chancellor's elite guards advance.

Jedi

(I ran both Jedi's turns at the same time, instead of having them attacking each other two separate times)


New Order Obi-wan slips under his opponents lightsabre...


And chops him in half!


Yoda, Mace, Dooku, and Jarrus all face off, their laser swords dancing around.


The same with the remaining Jedi. No additional casualties, yet.

New Order


These stormtroopers fire at the Old guard shock troopers, but don't deal enough damage.


The stormtrooper Corporal fires at a shock trooper.


Headshot!


The remaining stormtroopers stare at their blasters in confusion, as they both jam and refuse to fire.

Old Guard


Cody and the other shock trooper fire at New Order Kenobi, but he parries their blasts.


A Red Guard attack Kenobi, and they start dueling.


The other Red Guard skewers a stormtrooper through the gut!

Jedi


This Jedi parries both his New Order assailants attacks, but just barely.


The other Jedi all continue to duel, with no one slipping up or outplaying their opponent.

New Order


The Red Guard is immediately shot down the the Corporal and another trooper.


The other stormtroopers aim for the remaining Red Guard, but miss.

Old Guard


Cody fires on the stormtrooper Corporal, but his armor protects him. The shock trooper's blaster jammed.

Jedi


The black-robed Jedi continues to squeak by, once again just managing to hold his dual attackers at arm's length.


Mace winds back for a powerful swing, and Yoda sees an opening.


He swiftly cuts off Mace's right hand!


But before Yoda can strike him down, Windu farce pushes Yoda away!


He lands back over by the Chancellor.


The duels between Jinn, Gi, Old Guard Kenobi, and Offee continues.

New Order


This stormtrooper fires at the shock trooper, but fails to pierce his armor.


The Corporal and the remaining stormtroopers fire on Dooku and the Red Guard, respectively, but all attacks fall short of being fatal.


All of a sudden, the door opens and in comes four Senate Guards.


Reinforcements for the New Order have arrived!

Old Guard


Commander Cody and the shock trooper combine fire on the newcomers...


And gun down a Senate Guard.


The Red Guard continues to fight with Kenobi.

Jedi


This Jedi gets lucky and takes down one of his foes!


Yoda races back into the fray right as Windu reaches for his laser sword.


Windu ignites his blade and manages to block Yoda's attack with fractions of a second to spare.


Count Dooku gets the upper hand and runs his laser sword right through Jarrus' midsection.



Count Dooku: "Fall back! Help is on the way!"


Qui-gon and Obi-wan heed Dooku's word as they continue their duels.

New Order


The three Senate Guards combine fire on Count Dooku, who deflects all of their blasts with some difficulty.


The Corporal fires on the Red Guard whilst the troopers combine fire on the Jedi dueling with Plo Koon.


And in a stroke of luck for the New Order, both targets are slain!

Clone with Minigun: "C'mon, let's get everyone out!"

Mace Windu: "Open fire! Don't let them escape!"





Count Dooku: "That's everyone!"



Cody: "Pilot, get us out of here!"



Mace Windu: "This isn't over! You all will pay for your crimes!"

Gameplay: 4 Not a bad idea, just... kind of hard to follow at times.

Photos: 4 See above.

Violence: 4 There is a lot, but the other reports all had more.

Writing: 5 Lots of good story plot here, and a nice old guard vs new guard theme to it.

Overall Appeal: 3 While this is a nice battle report, it... kind of doesn't fit the Hellhaunt theme in any way?

GALAXY BATTLES, THE SAME-FACE-AS-THE-OTHER-GUY WAR.

GAMEPLAY: 5. MANY DUELS, MUCH LASER-FIRE. ALL GOODNESS.

PHOTOGRAPHY: 5. Clear and precise. I see no issue here. Good work!

Violence: 3. I get that it's SterWers. Lazer sword cuts someone, no blood. BUT THIS IS BRIWKARS. GIB MOAR DISMEMBERMENT. MORE FIRE. That is all.

Writing: 2. Is okay. Battle narration is clear and moves the events along just fine, just nothing noteworthy.

Overal Appeal: 3. A SOLID ENTRY. While no Hellhunt themes were immediately present, it is a good battle leading up to more good battles. I speak for many when I want to see more of NEW ORDER SHAGGY.

Thanks for the constructive criticism! I really appreciate your explanations of why you gave the entries the scores you did, rather than just judging.

And yeah, I know it's kinda the odd one out in terms of not having anything to do with the HellHaunt, but it's a storyline idea I've wanted to do for a while, and this was a good excuse.

Definitely get some nerd cred for putting Orbee-One in the correct stance to start the battle. Could have gained even more by making every thirteen sentence a prequel meme. Lazerzwords auto-cauterizing wounds held you back on violence, but also got nerd cred. Actually felt like a Space Battles fight which is impressive.

Works for me. Like I said, it is a good battle report, just didn't fit the theme quite right.
