Norse overlord Karl and his Vikings are brand new to the scene and quite unfamiliar with the other factions. They won't let that get in the way of having a proper smash-up. Which shows, as they've already started their movement while I was taking their portrait picture.




Starting not far from them are these menacing Lovely Lavender Labubu's, hoping they don't take another L today. We'll just call them aliens for now, since that is what we referred to them during the battle, and what's the difference anyway.




Then there's the Clone Troopers, focussed on violence and not much else. Easily the largest army here, with 5 already on the field and a million more on the way. Their hero feels a strong connection to the aliens, rumoured to be romantically entangled, but who knows how much of that will make an impact on the events of the battle.




Lastly there's the ZMC2, our very own Zombie Mayhem Construction Crew. They'll build whatever it takes - bridges, roads, tunnels - to ensure a never-ending supply of brainzzz.

Turn 1 - The Vikings

Like I said, the vikings began moving while we were still setting up the battlefield and making sure everyone understood the rules of engagement.



The Vikings decide to keep their actions in reserve to use as response actions against the other factions.

Not Karl though, their hero. He seeks to lift the tree from the ground and toss it onto the labubus. He jacks his wood a little too hard, and ends up trapped in mother natures' embrace. Feat failed.




Turn 1 - The Aliens

The xenos rush across the field, making their way towards the vikings.




An alien sprints towards the clone troopers and makes it to the top of the gas station.




Response fire is used to cover the position, but the gunman misses the shot.




Turn 1 - Clone Troopers

It's full send for the Jar-Jarheads as one of them rushes to meet an alien in close combat.




FIRST BLOOD as he's shot down by the reponse fire.




Everyone loves a good canister punt, so the clone troopers' hero rolls to see if he can pull it off. Feat success!




KA-BOOM!!




Two aliens and a host of scenery is dispatched by the explosion. The hero was spectacularly pushed aside by a redshirting alien.




The hero then heads to the top of the gas station staircase and whacks the forward alien across the head. He pauses for a brief moment to get a better look at the destruction he's caused.



"MORE! MORE!!!" he shouts, as the last two clones open fire. They don't appreciate getting Kylo'd, so they deliberately miss their shots.




Turn 1 - Zombies

The bros of the ZMC2 turn on their radio, finish their brain brew, and get to work on destroying the nearby section of wall.




More than enough damage is dealt as 2" of wall segment comes crumbling down.




A construction action is declared by the ZMC2 hero, who scratches his head - "If only I had half a brain to figure out what to build from this pile of rubble."

Turn 2 - Vikings

A viking axeman tries to cut his hero free from the tree.




Karl needs to lend a hand, but is ultimately released. He decides to relatiate against the wood that sought to undo him, and spends his Heroik Feat to cut the tree into tiny bits. But to what end?




Meanwhile, a viking archer dispatches a zombie worker.




Karl builds... a bridge! And he yeets it over the lava. (Feat success!) The ZMC2 cheers in encouragement of his construction action.




Karl rushes to the top of the volcano to position himself in range of the lootbox.




Turn 2 - The Aliens

A flaming crossbow bolt is fired at Karl, but misses.




Chief Labubu also heads up the volcano.




An extraordinary headbutt is deliverd to the viking hero. (feat success) He falls down, onto...



... YIKES!

"Call an ambulance...!"



"... but not for me!"

Lethal damage was dealt by the viking horned helmet. Not to hero Karl, but to the wearer, who was chosen as the perfect redshirt.




Turn 2 - Clone Troopers

The star wars hero attempts to heroically enter the mountaintop stage with an epic leap. But he gets his cape stuck in the antennas...




... and with a floor so slippery from years of oil spillage, slides to the very edge of the field. (feat failed)




The rest of the clone troopers reposition themselves and ready response fire, awaiting orders.


Turn 2 - Zombies

The zombie with the nailgun approaches a trooper. They exchange fire, but with no results.




Another zombie, wielding a close range weapon, comes charging in. He's killed by a response action before he can attack.




The ZMC2 hero has concluded his contruktion action. He's built... a plane! Sporting four small guns and an impressive windshield, the aircraft is immediately put to work. As a zombie grunt hitches a ride, the hero opens fire.




A clone trooper is swiftly dispatched.




The plane flies over the volcano and the zombie grunt exits at the right time, landing onto the central crane.




Response fire from Disneys' corner knocks the weapon from his hand, though. Now the zombie is kinda just stuck there.



The zombie hero has an idea for his heroik feat.

"Sharp teeth, vile eyes. I wonder if these aliens like brains as much as I do."




A hatch in the belly of the plane opens up, and a severed minifigure head drops down. It falls into the lap of an eliminated alien.



"Buh-buh-brainzzz!"

The alien is revived and feels a irresistable urge to knock over an entire baseplate of identical clone troopers, neatly arranged into rows. (feat success)

Turn 3 - Vikings

The archer at the back has waited for this moment for so long - he's finally able to open fire. The shot lands, but deals no damage to the alien hero.




These vikings are caught red-handed vandalizing a dumpster. But wait, where did the all the trash go?




Ohhh I see! One of them has declared a construction action and gets to work.




Karl has re-entered the hilltop arena and attacks the lavender hero. Who has a response action, so the two fighters roll simultaneously to determine who swings their weapon the hardest.




The otherworldly warrior takes the W and disarms his viking opponent.




A heroik feat is declared: Karl picks up the circular saw and revs it at the alien mace. Proving a skilled woodcutter, the alien is left with nothing but a branch. (feat success)




Turn 3 - Aliens

The two alien grunts open fire at the clones with their laser crossbows, but are unable to get any kills.




Chief Labubu grabs the loot!




He spins around very fast and lifts the golden chest into the air, hoping to yeet it off-planet.




DOINK!! He lets go at the wrong time and ends up yeeting himself, right into hostile territory. (feat failed)




Turn 3 - Clone Troopers

A flash! A slash! Ka-BANG! The clone commander has re-entered the killzone and is able to cut down the crane arm.




It falls over and traps the alien hero and a zombie grunt. (feat success)




A trooper tries to shoot the ZMC2 worker from point blank range, but deals no damage. If this were a zombie thriller, he'd die horribly now.




Turn 3 - Zombies

Unfazed and undeterred, like a proper undead, the builder bro picks up the chest and heads to the edge of the cliff.




He throws it down towards his buddies, but he critfails his action roll. It lands right onto his buddy.




Such a blatant violation of OSHA regulations has even this zombie mortified for his next performance review.




Over on the other side of the battlefield, the zombie hero attempts a Top Gun-style maneuver to rejoin his crew.




He ain't no Pete Mitchell. (feat failed)

Turn 4 - Vikings

Holy stud! The viking has finished his construction action - he's built a Catapult of War! Rolling Death on 6 tiny wheels, impaling those who come too close with a mounted axe, a spare helmet, and ofcourse, Big Yeet.



Norse overlord Karl considers a heroik feat.

"I'll jump swiftly off the volcano, load myself and the chest onto the catapult, do a kickflip mid-air, decapitate a clone trooper, etc. etc."



Then a sudden wave of sanity rushes over Karl.

"NAH"




Karl spends his movement inches like a normal human being - he climbs down and walks over to the chest.




Unsure of what to do next, he instructs a viking grunt to load the chest into the catapult.




Whheeeeeeee..... KER-CLANK




Inspired by the sudden lack of dumbassery, the viking archer shoots down an alien.




Karl looks to do the same, but his circular saw is unable to pierce the xeno-tek helmet.




Turn 4 - Aliens

The alien archer misses another unmissable shot.



Chief Labubu breaks free from under the rubble, effortlessly lifting the crane arm.

"YAAARRRRGGHH....."



"... HURK!"

The heavy metal contraption crushes two clone troopers, instantly killing one of them.

Finale

Suddenly, the entire battlefield begins to shake. The minifigures pause for a moment as they feel the trembling ground beneath their feet. Objects begin to fly through the sky, a giant cloth sweeps over the land in the distance. What is happening? What could be the cause of this?

...Republic reinforcements?

...An alien invasion?

...Is the volcano about to blow?

Its...

Time to wrap up, guys.

Each hero is asked one simple question - what will be your Loot item today?


The clone commander doesn't hesitate.

"I'll have your head, filthy alien."




An epic duel to the death ensues, because the alien wants the same thing - complete and total victory over his sworn enemy.

Thunder crackles, molten hot rocks soaring through the skies, the world raging everywhere around these two heroes as a single pair of dice decides their fate.



Ultimately, it's our brave alien chieftain who reigns supreme.

"Ooga Booga, kill da troopa."





Way down below, at the foot of the volcano, the vikings seek to take home their Catapult of War as loot.

Envious of such skillfull engineering, the zombies declare that their desired loot-item is the catapult as well.

Another roll of the dice determines that the vikings remain in possession of their war machine, leaving the ZMC2 empty-handed for today.




The End.

I bet "Everything is Ossum" was playing the whole time! The zombie theme was less prominent than the other battles but that was not the point of this one I believe . Bonus points for introducing more people to this silly stuff so splendidly!

A nice little battle that looked like a bunch of fun to play! I liked that your pictures are very clear and the battle was an enjoyable read. I would have liked to see more blood and mess scattered around the battlefield and some overview shots would have been nice to get a better idea of where everyone was in the battle. Thanks for the submission!

Very fun overall. I liked your different factions, I'm always a sucker for vikings and the labubus made me laugh. The zombies were the most creative in my opinion. It was easy to follow the action and the write up was the most entertaining and kept me engaged. Very excellent job overall. Only critique would be to have more blood and gore effects. BLOODSPLOSIONS!!!! make everything better.
