Dreadnought design help

Post by Battlegrinder » Mon Sep 15, 2014 8:15 pm

I've been working on the design for my dreadnought, and I've hit a bit of snag with the engine design. I've been trying to find a way to build the engines out on curved struts attached to the center hull, but I haven't been able to find a way to do that. I'd appreciate any assistance or advice you have to offer.

You can use revolvers to simulate curved struts.

Unless he built giant revolvers... giant revolvers that fire Nuclear bombs for propulsion :666: .

Anyway, the best way IMO to do curves is basically to use these, and similar connectors. See Quantums Lux dread for a master-class in how to best apply it.

Remember, presuming you split the curve into sections, the sections don't have to be the same length, or thickness, as long as you cover up the transition well, so you can have the nice thickening then thinning of the struts.

Or you can hinge them using technic bricks and connector pegs, that way, there is no limitation on the angles. It doesont matter that it would collapse irl, if its in LDD
I couldn't come up with anything smart, original or funny, so <=THIS=> is what you get.
ENJOY IT!!!

I'll try that out, along with a few other designs I've come up with that show promise. Hopefully I'll have a workable system figure out shortly.
