so, i've got a few small groups of figs, and i've got an idea for a full fledged army, I've got a design for infantry to work off of, I ave gotten good design style for them, there are only two problems.

I don't know how to build MOCS that well.
My briks are a mess.

I could use some basic advice on MOC building and such.

I'd say just start laying them out and see what you come up with .If you can color-coordinate, bonus!

I would suggest dividing into the major categories of bricks, plates, Technic parts, tiles, and slopes and then maybe grouping by color afterwards.

Having your bricks sorted in a way that makes sense to you is critical, no one wants to look 10 minutes for every piece.

It's often good to browse the web for stuff you want to build once you have an idea and look at some of the building techniques. You don't need to copy them, but you'll remember how you can use certain pieces or make certain joints.

For larger collections, it's usually better to sort by part type, but for smaller collections colour is usually better due to it allowing you to see what's the easiest colour to build a faction in.
When building mocs, it's usually good to get other's critiques on them and how to improve

You might need some inspiration. Pinterest is a great place to look, and for LEGO creations you might want to look for toys or mecha model kits for something to go off of. While you may feel ashamed of the fact that you're copying something, with LEGO you often diverge significantly from the intended product due to convenience/necessity as you find your own workarounds to piece shortages or difficult shapes.

I would also start small: since those projects make less of a mess and take less planning. Things like alien creatures (my favorite) military drones, small robots, a gaezebo, a catapult, ect. And you just work your way up from there.
