A Forsaken Nation Reborn

“The Kingdom of Poland, once it has been one of the biggest and most prestigious nation in the Nehellenium Galaxy. Under the rule of Władysław II Jagiełło, the nation saw a long period of political stability and prosperity among it's population.”
“Even after the end of the Golden Age under the Jagiełłonian rule, the Polish Kingdom could present it's whole military strength to the eyes of the rulers of the Galaxy. The Battle of Vienna was probably the most well known example of that: the Polish King Jan Sobieski led a huge cavalry charge against the Ottoman hordes and pushed them back to their own front lines”
“However, it did not take too long until the Kingdom had to face a severe crisis, caused by poor political leadership and the constant desire of Poland's neighbours, to claim Polish land for themselves. While being one of the best forces in the Galaxy, the Polish army couldn't resist the pressure of the USSSR, Space Nazis and the mass of other nations, that fought each other off and turned most of the Polish territories into vast battlefields.”
“In the end, the USSSR could claim itself to be the winner of this bloody conflict. In order to secure it's power in it's newly acquired territory, a communist government has been installed and the Polish elite, among them intellectuals, clerics and high ranking officers, has been either decimated or forced to live in exile.”
“The lucky ones, escaping the communist regime's terror sought to support other nations against the USSSR in the hope to restore the Polish state, once again. For example, the Polish Generał Stanisław Sosabowski joined the Britannian Red Beret Corps, along with other Poles, fighting not only against the Communist hordes, but also against the armies of future Third Alliance nations.
However, most Poles had to be left disappointed, since none of these nations, they have been aiding, was ever interested in the restoration of Poland. It seemed, that everyone has forgotten not only about the history, but also about the mere existence of this nation. The whole situation was hopeless for all Poles in the entire galaxy...”
“...until one day in early B.R. 2.014.”

Some very nice scenes, conveying the history of the Kingdom of Poland. I especially like the monochromatic effect to show its a flashback.

“Małgorzata Sadow, back then the head administrator of the Polish Capital Warszawa and member of the communist party, was also a strong and influential ally of the Polish Underground State and used her political position to initiate one of the greatest uprisings in Polish history.”
“In March of BR 2,014, the whole population of Planet Warszawa, women, men, children, humble workers and even veterans of countless battles, stood up against their oppressors, fighting for the true liberation of their nation. However, the battle in the Capital district was one of the bloodiest, that have been ever fought on Polish ground, yielding the complete destruction of the historical old city and with it, a great part of Polish culture.”
“In spite of having to rebuild the whole Capital renaming it into “Nowa Warszawa” in the process, the uprising of Warszawa was a big success. The communist occupation force had no hope in receiving further reinforcements, for the USSSR had to deal with several other uprisings and revolutions. Many communist soldiers and collaborators were either forced to fall back to the core regions or captured during the battle and removed from office. The hopeless situation of the USSSR intruders made is much easier for the uprising to spread across neighboring regions like a wildfire...”
“...first in the whole Mazovian region, followed by the sector of Greater Poland and finally towards the Northern Sectors, that yield access to lucrative trade routes.”
“The Lesser Polish sector around planet Kraków was liberated by a military coup, that happened separately from the Greater Polish uprisings. The main goal of the coup was to install a provisional government, until a legal heir was found to reclaim the throne of Poland. In order to achieve these goals, a pact with dark gods has been formed to crush the Russian intruders. This was to be later a thorn in the eye of many Poles of the Northern regions, that were still loyal to the Faith of the Great Creator, that was still dominant from the Golden Age to the years of foreign occupation.”

“Not only religious matters, but also the question about the future form of government was separating the governments in Nowa Warszawa and Kraków. While the former one proposed to ditch monarchy in favor of a modern republic, the latter pleaded for a military autocracy, as a provisional government for a future Kingdom. Because of these differences, a cooperation was almost impossible, leading to the breakdown into two sovereign nations:”
“The upper territories were formed into the Konfederacia Wielkopolska and the lower ones into the Unia Krakowska. Despite the tension between these two, none of them wages a direct civil war against each other, for both nations are populated by Poles, afterall.”
“As the first elected Presydent of the newly formed Confederation, Małgorzata Sadow has sworn to bring Polish land back to it's former glory. In less than a year, a mighty navy and an even mighter army has been build up and advanced technology researched for both military and civilian use, much to the surprise of all the other nations around the galaxy.”
“And until now, people like me, do their best to preserve the history of a nation, that has almost been forsaken by the eye of the public: a history of constant fighting, foreign occupation and glorious victories. While I mostly do not care about earthly matters, being a knight in the service of the Great Creator, I am also kind of proud, being able to serve my fatherland.”
“May it return to glory, once again!”
FIN ?
