With this year's election coming to a close in less than 48 hours, many eyes across the galaxy are watching and waiting to see who will be the face of the Galacian Republic, now considered by many to be the Nelhellium's newest Superpower. The ramifications of a change in government are huge this week as several key issues are the focus of this political battle. The Incumbent, President Tesarik has been the face of a massive overhaul of the military and it's containment of the Maripol Pact rebellion, as well as a massive mobilization destined for the Purple sector. While the opposition vows to return things to the way they were, with a humble and isolationist Galacia. However some figures in the Galacian administration are convinced that the outcome of this election won't change a thing.
Svetlana Livingston: Earlier today, we spoke with General Oleksandr Shulga, one of the key members of the Republic Military Junta, referred to by themselves as "The Triumvirate". General Shulga, largely considered to be a nationalist hardliner and a war criminal by peach sympathisers, had this to say on the election.
Gen. Shulga This election is merely ceremonial, the Triumvirate has the only real authority here, and will remain to as long as military operations are ongoing in the sector and abroad. That is to say that any laws and operations that have been put into place with the approval of the Triumvirate, will remain in place regardless of the outcome of this "election". That said, I fully endorse the incumbent, President Tesarik will continue to improve our citizens lives with the aid of the Civil councils, and will continue to improve Galacia's standing in the AN. and our armed forces will continue putting the Terrorists, Communists and Peach insurgents to the sword both home and abroad.
Svetlana Livingston: General Shulga's comments came just after the announcement that the Galacian armed forces will be deploying signifigant forces in the Purple sector to combat Soviet forces in the Southern front of the Polish/Soviet Conflict. Svetlana Livingston: The incumbent, President Stepan Tesarik, running for re-election. Is running on an Expansion, Overhaul and Intervention ticket with the campaign slogan "This is what we worked for, don't stop now!" Largely credited as "Victorious" in his first term's goal to propel Galacia into a position of Power and Prosperity, He has several tickets on his agenda. As mentioned earlier, a full mobilization of the Empire's freshly overhauled armed forces now considered a major threat in the galaxy, Intervention in the Purple sector as part of Galacia's ongoing greviances with the USSSR. Retaliation against the 45th Union as a result of the Union seemingly not obeying Galacia's demands to stop sending violent peach militants and support into the Obsidian sector, a demand that seems to have been ignored by President Putin...
Svetlana Livingston: While recent developments may have changed this, President Tesarik also expressed interest in the founding of a new nonpartisan alliance based on the foundations that Galacia followed in the years prior starting with the invitation of the Planetary Levtican Empire. This theoretical organization would be an alternative to alliances like TA and NATO. Regardless of the outcome of Tesarik's own coalition goals, he is also looking to expand diplomatic ties with the powers abroad and in particular the other Superpowers. Talks have already begin with Trattoria and the Poles for instance. Lastly, at home, Tesarik has promised in the future a sweeping wave of urban redevelopment both here in the capital and in the colonies.
Svetlana Livingston: Tesarik's main opponent is the CEO of the SUZU motor corporation, Mr. Dic Jacobus. Mr. Jacobus is running on a ticket promoting a return to the days of subtlety and isolationism, with the exception of the issue with the 45th Union, Mr. Jacobus has polarizing views on most of the President's goals. He intends to cancel the Purple sector deployment and focus the military on wiping out the Rebels. A move criticized by the President who claims the Rebel situation is "handled" and not a priority. He intends to rip up the alliances and proposals to the Poles and PLE, And to return Galacia into an Isolationist and Protectionist empire. Mr. Jacobus has been Polling low in most cases, but surprisngly in many of the border subsectors he polls high, perhaps because of foreign influence. One could argue that outside powers that do not want to see Galacia rise to a position that may threaten them, would have an interest in a Jacobus Presidency that would essentially board itself up and largely ignore the galaxy.
Svetlana Livingston: Lastly, an independent candidate running largely off the success of an online campaign that started off as a joke and quickly garnered momentum. Mr. James Lahey of Sunnyvale, Zircon system is a champion of the poor , the disenfranchised, and apparentley.. the drunk, a populist with a largely unknown agenda, The often inebriated Lahey has vowed to "Get rid of the Shit Weasels", whether that is a reference to a group or class in or out of Galacia is unknown at this point, he also promised to build "Beautiful" Trailer parks for the poor and disenfranchised. And in a nation that already experiences an alarming amount of alcoholism, he wishes to integrate hard liquor into many aspects of civilian life so that everyone can experience "The Liquor" as he does. Mr Lahey has not been available for comment for INN as he was reported to have passed out and fallen down while on camera with a Trattorian reporter earlier today.
