In BR 2017 the well equipped and large army of the North Galactic Confederation made a huge incursion into the territory of Ayanami 0, almost breaking the already strained Ayanami Revolutionary Forces and capturing planet after planet. Early on it emerged that foreign troops and volunteers had been involved in the fighting including contingents from the newly formed Voza Corps and the expansionist Krussian Empire.


The highly experienced but battered ARF was forced into a full retreat as even personnel from naval bases were forced to make a series of desparate last stands in order to try and slow the fast moving NGC forces.


At the "victory city" of Niapolis the NGC was halted by the sacrifice of rebel cadres that formed seemingly spontaneously and quickly spread through large portions of Ayanami 0, affiliated with neither the ARF nor the NGC. Much of their support seems to come from the rallying cry of "everything for everyone"


At the centre of the rebel forces is the mysterious Subcommandante Luciá who has become an icon of the rebel movement


As the situation stands, the NGC has encircled the capital city of Reitropolis as the ARF prepares to make a final stand, akin to the one made about a year ago against the forces of the Shikinami Soviet Socialist Republic and the Feudal Electorate while the rebels launch a counterattack against the NGC

Even as the AN tries to negotiate a truce between the two sides in order to provide civilians with sufficient armament to add to the chaos, NGC forces fight street to street even coming close to the "victory square" outside the mayor's house in reitropolis.
