"What are you doing here?" Randoul V, king of Vasluxia, demands of the elf.
"I bring dark tidings," she says, "from the Last Alliance."
Randoul's face darkens beyond it's usually surly glare. "And what tidings do you bring? My kingdom suffers enough."
"It concerns your foe, the Liossans, and their invasion."
"Go on..." he says, leaning forward.
Not far away, on a Wulfing clan Fortress Ship, a silly looking sorcerer takes the omens.
"It is as I feared..." he mutters, "I must tell the chieftain"
"You're sure of it?" Empress Meriall demands of the wizard. "I have already started my invasion. Border castles and villages have already been taken."
"Yes," the wizard confirms, "the weapons of legend are within Vasluxia. I have not been able to pinpoint their exact location, of course, but the signs are quite clear."
"Do the other nations know of this?" she asks.
"Most certainly. All the court wizards will be informing their leaders and kings. It is inevitable."
"How? You said--"
"My lady," the wizard cut in humbly, "I am far from the only person looking for these holy relics. Once they are discovered the magikal energies they possess cascade through the Brikverse. We have a head start, of course, since you've already begun the invasion. But Vasluxia will soon be a battleground between all the nations seeking these weapons."
"And are they as powerful as the legends say?"
"Even more so. They can shatter armies and mold the world as they see fit. Not possessing them will be a devastating loss, my lady."
"Then continue your search, wizard," the empress said with a bow, "and alert me as soon as you find them so I may redirect my armies to them."
"Of course, my lady. Of course."
