Satan: “Oh, you think?”
“Hey now, to be fair, you can’t blame me for you getting shot. I didn’t summon you”
“I know, but I think I still will blame you. It was your little plan that went sideways. It wouldn’t even have taken as long if your first force had been successful.”
“Yes, I know. I didn’t expect the Jaffa to show up and just blow up one of our warships. Far as I knew the only factions in that sector with any noteworthy firepower were the Imperials, who usually aren’t competent enough to hit anything important, and the Alliance, who we know how to appease. The Jaffa being there and being that aggressive was not something I or anyone else saw coming.”
“Sounds like a bunch of excuses to me”
“Says the guy who showed up just to get shot. ”
“Yes, yes. Don’t remind me… So, what are you planning to do about this now?”
“Well, the Immortals have the Chainsword. That’s not as bad as it could be. They hate FleebOrk and his Warband, so I doubt that they’d work with Cain. I might be able to make a deal with them.”
“That leaves the third Chainsword.”
“And the Jaffa. I wouldn’t mind some payback. Anyways, Ogel – Kirb, whatever he calls himself in this universe… he and his minions are looking for the final Chainsword. So that’s taken care of.”
“I can send someone to take care of the Jaffa. Can’t have those morons running around pretending to spread the word of any noteworthy god.”
“That would be ideal. I’ll have someone send you coordinates to their outpost in this area. Who did you have in mind to lead that attack?”
“Davoth”
“Isn’t that the Architect who thinks he’s God? The one that lost a fight to a guy and his smart fridge?”
“Exactly”
“Sounds like a pretty stupid idea”
“Well, either he wins and we are rid of the Jaffa for the foreseeable future or he gets killed, humbled and finally shuts up. Either works for me.”
“Fair enough. I’ll go handle the Immortals then, keep me posted about the Jaffa.”

Ashen Herald Comms Officer: “Supreme Commander, the final shuttle of our Azurias Force is underway. The Optio wishes to speak to you directly.”
Supreme Commander Horace Canara: “Optio? Didn’t I leave Kelly in charge of that mission?”
“Yes Sir. But apparently there were some… issues with the mission. The Optio said that he’d file a report later, but he wanted to bring the loot that the Unit acquired first.”
“Intriguing. Tell him that I’m on my way to the hangar.”

Minutes later

“Greetings Optio. I hear you have something for me?”
Optio: “Aye, Supreme Commander. That… is the good news.”
He hands over the chainsword he took from Azurias’ temple.
“Impressive. And what about the bad news?”
“Well…”


“is that… Kelly?”
“Aye, Supreme Commander. She got shot by an Alien Jet when trying to get to the chainsword. We were able to stabilize her for now but… doesn’t look too good.”
“A shame. Bring her to medbay, we’ll see what can be done.”
“Aye, Supreme Commander”
“Supreme commander! An Alien vessel is approaching!”
“Tell the destroyers to move in to intercept!”


“Aye sir! They’ve sent out a smaller ship. Looks like the big one is preparing to retreat.”
“Already? Didn’t think they’d get scared off this easily…”


“Sir, the small ship is sending a message. ‘Take me to your leader’. Looks like they want to talk to you.”
“Direct them to the Hangar. But keep an eye on them. If they activate their weapons I want them gone immediately”
“Are you sure it’s a good idea to invite them in? Pretty sure those are the same guys that shot Kelly.”
“What are they gonna do? We’ve got enough Legionnaires in here to stop them from doing anything stupid. It’ll be fine.”

“Quite the Welcoming Committee you’ve got here. If I didn’t know any better I’d feel like I weren’t actually welcome”
“Can you blame me? From what I hear, you guys shot one of my highest ranking officers.”
“Well, your troops destroyed one of my mining stations, killed one of the Swarm’s commanders and stole a relic that we’ve been searching for for ages. But I’m not here to discuss who dealt more damage to the other. I’m here to discuss an alliance.”
“Is that so?”
“We have a common enemy in this sector. The Brootal Warband you are hunting is working with a sorcerer who’s been an annoyance for me and my associates. Not having to worry about each other while those guys are around would be beneficial to both of us.”
“I see.”
“Of course, in the long run, I would also like to take that chainsword you stole from us.”
“And why should I just give that to you?”
“Many reasons. You stealing it from my associates first would be one. Angering said associates by also killing a bunch of them and shooting down one of their capital ships another. I assure you that we do have the firepower to take it by force, should you choose to go against us. It’d be a waste of time and ressources, but were it necessary…”
“Not really the best way to discuss a partnership there.”
“Of course. Final reason is that we actually know how to use that thing to its fullest potential. I’d assume you were going to use it either as a sword or a battery? We can exchange it for something just as efficient for you. Also, I might be able to fix that.”

“Kelly? How so?”
“Either with demonic magic, psionic reincarnation or by using that blade. Either option will work. And all of those are gonna be more effective than whatever you guys were gonna do to her.”
“Fine… I’ll think about it.”
"Wonderful. We’ll be in touch. And no matter how you decide, do not let that sword fall into the claws of FleebOrk and his sorcerer friend. Ah, one more thing: what happened to the other quantumsurfer that I left with you?”
“That you left with us?”
“Yeah, the one you found in hell. I was meaning to check in on him but I forgot that I wrote him into this mess.”
“Ah, the guy with the glowing arm? We sent him back to his friends. From what he told us they were on a quest to amass loot. And he offered to bring some back to us after their next escapades.”
“I see. Well, you might want to send someone to see how that’s going. From what I hear they are currently burning through more loot than they are getting to fend off a CybOrk. Anyways, I’ve got to go. Let me know when you’ve had time to think about that alliance.”
