Re: Anime Clüb | Oct = Angel's Egg | Nov = Michiko to Hatchi
I think the way this thread should work:
- Anime gets assigned for a watching period and then a talking period.
- Some animes can be watched in 1 sitting, others take more time.
- Ones that can be watched in 1 sitting (OVAs, short series, etc) ought to be discussed pretty quickly
- Ones that take longer (series of anime or like a season of one) get a longer lead time before discussion starts
So right now we're discussing Angel's Egg, and we can start watching Michiko to Hatchin but we won't talk about it until we get to November because it's going to take some time for people to watch it.

^That makes a lot of sense. I also really like this round robin idea where everyone (even Vami) gets to pick one.

You've only seen two episodes of Madoka? No wonder you didn't like it.

I saw Vami's list and I'm guessing he will pick "Anime Title" he seems to really like that one.

Yeah, insert_blank disses anime lists, but they're useful tools for finding recommendations. MALgraph is also cool, as long as you've recorded the dates right.

Re: Anime
Not everyone but some people use it as a penis measuring match which is dumb. If you just want to keep track of your stuff that's fine. I'm currently downloading a 66gig bluray CCS torrent. I'll let y'all know how that turns out.

Re: Anime
Hiding this thread in announcements?

But this shit from Trigun is my serious answer.

Honestly, re-watching this scene as an adult made me roar with laughter at how thoroughly Heero humiliates Relena (who the guy I watch Gundam with and I agree must be insane).Silverdream wrote:What are your guys' favourite emotional anime moments?

Re: Anime
Possibly, but it's not an emotional moment of significance so much as complete high-school badassery.stubby wrote:No matter how many times I've seen it, it still makes no sense to me. Did I just get a bad translation or something?IVhorseman wrote:
In the Toonami edit that I watched as a kid, he says "I'll destroy you" when he whispers into Relena's ear, but even as a wee elementary schooler I knew he had to be saying "kill," which is in the actual "adult" edit.
The reason I think it's so cool is because here's this kid who's a child assassin that pilots a giant killing machine. Hiding in a High School as his cover. However, that cover could easily be blown by the fact that the same girl who saw him wash up on the beach and called an ambulance (almost immediately blowing his cover) on him happens to be the most popular girl in school. Seriously, half of the background chatter of the classmates is them talking about how cool or pretty Relena is.
So now all of the sudden she's chasing Heero like a tiger, because he lost his shit at her and bailed before the ambulance could get him. She took this as him playing hard to get. Now in the middle of the lunch square, Relena waltzes right up to the new kid in school and personally invites him to her party. Everyone loses their shit and suddenly Heero is the center of attention.
Since this is tactically the worst situation he could ever be in, he rips the invatation up in front of her and every body else, and when she starts crying he walks up to her and WIPES A FUCKING TEAR OFF HER EYE LIKE A BOSS. Then he walks right up to her and whispers right in her ear that he's going to fucking kill her, and moonwalks the fuck away.
Misogyny aside, I think the proper way to watch Gundam Wing is to treat it like a Magical Girl School drama. A good portion of the early season happens in schools (especially once Duo joins his class because fuck it), and the entire end credit sequence of the edit I'm watching is just Relena dancing around with some animals singing about love. Everyone's at war and killing each other, but if Relena can get Senpai to notice her then the power of love will bring everyone to peace. There also happens to be a military/robot side-plot going on, but that's not important.
Right, and he didn't want Maril or Millie finding out.Silverdream wrote:Oh, I remember that. That's when Vash discovers that Legato is pregnant.
EDIT; UNRELATED: I Nominate Millie best girl

Re: Anime
I'm pretty sure Heero is completely insane. I always imagined the phrase "an hero" came from him. Especially since he
I think since Wing is an anniversary show they were trying to do a Newtype thing with the main 5 characters so they have Heero start out as a horrible asshole who hates normal humans and evolves into a cool Newtype like the original 3 MCs. The problem is Wing has very little plot and characters do things for no reason so by the end of the show it's like "oh, I guess he's a good guy now?"
I can totally agree with IV on pretty much everything he said about being the same as a highschool magical girl drama. If an ED doesn't have the "cute" girl character running around and singing about love it's not even a real ED and that's a fact (Even though Noin is the true best girl).

I love that he doesn't even think twice about it either, he just gets a radio transmission from upstairs that they're gonna surrender and in seconds he's just all "Sweet, now I get to die!"Insert_blank wrote:I'm pretty sure Heero is completely insane.
