Neither. The plot of Battle of the Gods was just stretched into 20 badly animated episodes.

There is a torrent out there that puts all the new stuff from the RoF tv adaptation into the movie. My friend said there was one cool scene in the TV show that improved on the movie. But yeah it just sucks until the Universe 6vs7 tournament arc.

Funny you should mention time machines though...
