November Brikfic Contest Discussion

Several people have expressed an interest to me in a BrikFic contest. I don't know if we have enough interest generated to have contestants as well as enough judges but I figured the only real way to find out would be to just gun for it and see what happens.

I absolutely did not want to run the contest during October, as that month belongs rightfully to the Hellhunt. But I also don't want to wait around til Spring or something to start one here. I'm thinking the contest will run beginning November 8th (day after Hellhunt ends) and ending November 30th.

So the technical details aren't really an issue, aside from maybe deciding on a word count (to help judges from having to read entire novels). But (supposing the contest goes on) I wondered if we would like to have a theme, to narrow the focus of the writing, or not. Overwatch suggested writing follow up stories based on the Hellhunt entries. Or maybe he said based on the winner. Either way, it's an idea. Do we have any others?

Also, thoughts about Judging Categories? Clearly, we can't use three of the Hellhunt categories, due to the different creative medium.

And maybe a name for the contest.

I'll put one up regardless but I wanted to collect ideas first, if I can.

I like the idea of a follow-up from HH as a theme.

Names, Anual brik-fic comp? Not quite as catchy as Halloween Hellhunt tho.

As for categories, well, good writing, exciting story, are what come straght to mind, I'll sleep it all over and tell you what I come up with.

EDIT: Funny, you had me confused for a while there b/c you said that you diddn't want to wait aroud till spring to do this, well down here in Oz, it is spring, right in the middle of it.

Right, here's what I came up with.

Theme: Life story of their sig-fig, or a part of it? Follow-up from the HH title?

Categories: Writing, overall appeal, violence? humor.

Name: still no ideas.
