An empire of ages gone

Way back when I was much smaller, I ran an empire the spanned many galaxies(each neighborhood a galaxy, each house, a solar system with the rooms being planets), The Emperor of this Empire(Sindri) sent forth his forces to conquer and assimilate, after many years we had conquered several solar systems, instituted taxes, laws, and a senate, while it was primarily a military dictatorship with Emperor SIndri at its head, the Senate had some power.

Each planet conquered was met with an exchange, we'd leave a governor and the planet we conquered would send an ambassador, there'd be monthly senate sessions on AOL/MSN Messenger(God, haven't heard that name in a long time have you? with taxes being paid yearly in manpower or material to fuel the empires expansion.

Unfortunately... with all golden ages, come dark ages... the empire's colonies started going dark one after another, once trusted allies were completely wiped off the map by an age old enemy, time, even though it lost a majority of its power, it remained in its home system, making sure what power it had, remained firmly within its grasp.
