"Recomended" Army Size / Size differances / BrikWussies

Post by Virobrain » Mon Jan 05, 2015 5:50 pm

At what size do you normally play (Rough estimates, CP values, and ϋ values are all viable) ? I was planning on getting together with one of my mates and playing some Brikwars but it has become apparent to me that:

6. His army is way larger than mine, too a grotesque degree. Not that I mind losing, quite the contrary his figs would be left out of the wanton destruction like BrikWussies. (IDK, Am I just be bitching with this one?)

7. I seem to need brix. I always assumed my collection was sufficient but I now seem to be having a few problems constructing new modes of death distribution.

8. All of my money for brix is occupied by Bionicle 2015

Love the work Mike has done with the 2010 rules.

P.S.:Just joined forums, bracing for impact, whoop whoop! :studgod:

I don't use CP at all and have never bothered calculating it for any one battle, but I'd wager around 200-250 CP per side is about as big as I've played (and finished). In ϋ, anything under 2 feet should be manageable.

If you really want to see all of your buddy's forces in a fight vs. all of yours, set up a scenario with a heavily defensible position for your outnumbered forces. Remember, the goal isn't to win as much as it is to have fun.

I usually recommend something real small and quick for your first game to give you an idea of how long things take and better context to decide scale of battle you personally enjoy. Something like 1 hero, 5 minifigs, and a small vehicle. It's like an appetizer before deciding on the main course.

If you want to increase the size of your army, Bionicle guys make good heavy units.

I personally like smaller armies. Usually about 10-20 minifig armies give decent battles.

I'd definitely start out small. It's no fun if you have to wait too long for your turn.

As for size difference... Whatever floats your boat, I guess. To me battles where both sides have a decent chance of winning seem to be the most fun, but that doesn't necessarily mean both armies should be similar in size. A smaller army could have an objective that makes it so they don't necessarily need to kill every enemy unit, terrain advantages, stronger units, or whatever.

If you want bigger battles, it's probably best to group your units into a couple of squads that are quick and easy to move around.
