I have a question that may be considered rules-lawyer-y by some, but I'm going to ask it anyway.
I have a mecha that uses a sword, but it always gets gunned down before it can get close enough to attack. Is there any way to counter this?

I have a mecha that uses a sword AND a missile rack, AND a mounted machine gun, AND a MRKIII cannon.

Blow away the heavy troops/vehicles with the missiles, then finish off the pathetic littile soldiers with the CT sword.

Problem solved. :studgod:

I think usually the best answer is to ask yourself WWWW, which stands for What Would overWatch dWo?

I think that if your army talks a long time to describe, it's a danger sign to start with, but that's just a personal style preference. It really depends on who you're up against, I think; you should be ready to share all the details if you're playing with somebody who feels like they need them, but I think most people are happy to just let the armies speak for themselves mostly.

If you're going to pull any big crazy surprises then you should clear them in advance just for sportsmanship's sake. Like bringing an all air force to what everybody thought was going to be a medieval ground battle or something.

Put out an even scarier mech with a sword so all the gunners attack that one instead.

There's a couple options here. You could go the heavy armor route, give yourself Shielding against low-level weapons, and try to survive through the opening round of fire. You can go super-speedy, and try using screening units to draw enemy fire to give him opportunities to rush in. You can try Stealth, which is tricky but pretty rad if you can pull it off.

Stubby needs to work on his spelling or his position in the beer forum might be at stake.

based on the amount of problems in that paragraph i would imagine its his position in the beer forum that has him messed in up the first place

But I don't want to use missiles and machine guns. I want to hit them with my sword.

Armor or shielding might be good, but it's usually combined fire that takes it down. Speed is probably my best bet, since it'll be harder to hit. Stealth isn't really an option though because it's bright red and too awesome-looking to hide.

What stops you from just statting up a shield as a separate Creation and then just like, putting a Mechanic on your arm to fix it when it blows up?

Yeah. They permit posters to avoid breaking your tables when they post a high-resolution image.
