Re: BW 2010 feedback
I did the same thing back in the late 80's with a game I was programming.
I had the King unit be mediocre on attack.
Highest on defense because he could afford the best armor.
Most hit points because he was fat.

Well - this is a little different. He's not a damage sink, he's a bomb waiting to go off. The longer you wait to use him, the more powerful he gets, but you only get to use him once, and his speech can be interrupted by enemy attacks. So there's a real push-your-luck mechanic to him.

Have you ever seen Obama fire a gun?Voin wrote:Is there a reason why the upper-tier Leader classes have less skill than the Officer?
BrikThulhu eats 1d6 minifigs each turn.
Re: BW 2010 feedback
Well, there's the thing: in the earlier days rulers used to fight at the front line, while contemporary rulers just do ruling stuff and let all the army men do the dirty work.
I'd personally give warrior-kings hero stats, while modern politicians just have normal fig stats and the ability to call redshirts because they seem to be important somehow.

Re: BW 2010 feedback
Is it just me, or do mechs seem a bit underpowered? A 6" tall titan of steel and testosterone would be reduced to 3" size, because that's it's "spine" size. Now I can't fire the goddamn main armament, not to me.tion the secondary. Am i doing this wrong?

Re: BW 2010 feedback
A mech with a 3" spine is as powerful as a 3" tank. That makes the most sense to me; that's pretty much what a 3" mech is: a 3" tank with arms and legs added. It's not like you hide extra power sources in your arms and legs; the central tank is still just as powerful with or without them.
I can think of a couple mechs in anime that can fire weapons larger than their main bodies, but just like their BrikWars versions, they have to Divert All Power first.

Re: BW 2010 feedback
Most of the Armored Cores I'm looking at have a main weapon the same size as their body, or close enough for the sake of Fudge. So, no real problem there that I can see.
And that limit only applies to hand-held weapons. Shoulder-mounted weapons can still be twice the size of the body and still fire just fine, just like any other vehicle.

Re: BW 2010 feedback
if i remember correctly the Duerers greater war titan it was 30" but the spine is only 12" yet it has limbs the size of a tank and its the main body itself is larger than a death tank how does that even out?

Re: BW 2010 feedback
What are you asking exactly? How does what even out to what? I can't make heads or tails of your question.
12" is around the size range of most Death Tanks, so the wartitan is roughly equivalent to a walking death tank.

Re: BW 2010 feedback
that is the real problem is it not? a giant robot larger than even an average warship while a warhsip may make full use of its size yet a walking warmachine cannot? Is that fair when an AC is able to take to space and fight against them?stubby wrote:What are you asking exactly? How does what even out to what? I can't make heads or tails of your question.

Re: BW 2010 feedback
I'm afraid I just disagree with you on this one. Not like in a "well we both have different but valid points of view" kind of way, either.
Limbs are devices that consume power to operate. Ridiculous amounts. The reason we don't have giant mechs in real life is because no one has figured out how to generate enough power in the main body to operate giant limbs. Realistically speaking, a mech with the body the size of a warship should be much, much, much less powerful than the warship. Like, negative power. It would actually have to plug itself into something else in order to move the limbs.
Now if you live in a sci-fi universe where there was a power source that a mech could use for limb function, then the warship would be able to use the same power source, and it wouldn't have to spend any of it on limbs. The warship is still more powerful than the mech no matter how you slice it.
If you want to house-rule your mechs so that they don't have to follow any kind of logic or consistency, that's fine; BrikWars is all about playing in a universe of complete ass-backwards nonsense. Don't even feel bad about it. But I can't fit it into the main rules system without making the rules system inconsistent.
Like, the very first question that comes to mind. Let's say I have a mech fighting in space with a shoulder-mounted cannon. Suddenly, another mech comes up with an energy blade and chops his legs off at the knees. Should that make a difference to whether he can power the cannon? If legs are part of the power source, then I can disable his cannon by cutting off his feet. In my mind, I can't feel good about adding that to the game.

Re: BW 2010 feedback
Wait. Shoulder mounted guns can be twice the size, but handheld guns cannot. What if the gun is mounted in place of the arm?
