What? I already did exactly that. It was the 2001 rulebook.piltogg wrote:unrealisticaly, The rulebook should be at least 5 times longer than the 2005 rules where an cover extensively almost every aspect of the game players could want to know includeing at least 20 brickwars specific units with stats and instructions. What sorts of things would you like to see rules for that aren't in the 2001 rulebook? There's not all that much missing, really. At least, not much that would come into play in a game where you aren't trying to mix chemical compounds to fashion a crude explosive device or something. There are a few things that don't quite line up-- like falling damage vs. collision damage for example. But mostly, it's pretty good.piltogg wrote:oh, I got mixed up... I meant 5 times longer than 2001
As for things that are missing, we found a couple things that we weren't keen on, but were able to fudge well enough in game. Offhand:
- If a fire spreads over a large area (say, over 9 baseplates) and suddenly a 1 is rolled, the entire fire goes out, rather than just a specific section. Oh, and if any objects within the 9 baseplates are still on fire, they can arguably spread the fire back to the already-in-ashes areas. Dunno if there were many details about individual fires merging. Anyway, there were some oddities in there, but it's never actually made a difference in any game we've played.
- There's no limit to how much weight an object can take before breaking. This came into play once when a player had an elephant walk on his hero. The elephant wasn't actively *kicking* the hero (which there are rules for), but it wasn't clear how much damage the hero should take. I forget how we handled it, but that's one I remember thinking there should be a rule for.

the stuff I just said here. (so if you want to play a game and already are running out of ideas that are unteresting you can look one up. and other things for people with no immagination because that would add to the number of brikwars players a lot, I mean just look at warhamer, everything is laid out before people so they can take whatever they want and add to it slightly with thier own stuff without thinking to hard.piltogg wrote:I would just add some war lingo/ accronyms to help people spice up thier games a little as well as likea stratagy guide or something for beginers.
unrealisticaly, The rulebook should be at least 5 times longer than the 2005 rules where an cover extensively almost every aspect of the game players could want to know includeing at least 20 brickwars specific units with stats and instructions. Obviously Mike doesn't have enuff titme to do that. I would be totaly willing to help write some though because then he would only need to spellcheck it and stuff like that.
whoa, wait five times longer than the 2001 rules?!?!? dude I read more than most of my friends (not saying much really) and I still haven't read every section in the 2001 rules. How would one go about organizing a rulebook of the size you speak?
Glory be to the Bomb, and to the Holy Fallout. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be. World without end. May the Blessings of the Bomb Almighty, and the Fellowship of the Holy Fallout, descend upon us all. This day and forever more. Amen!
So... you don't want a rulebook per se, so much as a compilation of examples? Sample scenarios, sample units, etc? A lot of that information is out there-- hell, NELUG has a stash of about 50+ scenarios that we've come up with most of which we probably won't ever get to. I think older rulebooks (like 1998) even had those types of things in them-- details on pirates, and the various space civilizations and their stats.
But if you want to compile something yourself, hey, go nuts.

well I started coding 2001 in html so I can include images and the tables will be less choppy, once I am done It will just be a matter of adding some supplement chapters to the end of it and takeing pictures from different versions of the rulebook as well as some of my own and adding them in where appropriate.

So... essentially all you are doing is you are going through an over a hundred page and slapping your pics in? That and putting 'gasp' more supplement chapters in? Sounds like a waste of time to me. But hey, it's your free time...

Often, literally, a pillow fight but may include similar situations like volleyball, particularly when wardrobe is skimpy and the action is bouncy.
