it all looks pretty awesome. hopefully this rulebook will be mostly done or at least I will have a grasp of what it all means by this summer for my "not going to be able to play brikwars/ build lego things for the next 4 years" mega-battle.

also I really highly doubt that anyone would object to you using their stuff in the rulebook, so long as it doesn't contain the actual player in the picture.

suggestion: put some shit in from the wiki. people need to read that more.

That's definitely in the plans, and it's already started - I think about half of the chapters already have yellow textboxes at (or near) the bottom with wiki stuff. Most of them just have placeholder art right now, but that'll be fixed eventually, and the wiki is going to have a much bigger presence in the rulebook.

What I really ought to do is start adding links to the wiki the way I've added links to the forum threads.

I agree, but doubting someone will object isn't the same as having permission, so I've got to track all that down once I've finalized the list of images I want to use.

well either their in a different directory to the rest or their not up yet, As I can't see them in the directory
Seriously? You guys can't figure out how to see those sections? It's fairly simple, and from what I've read of the '10 rules thus far, those sections are made of nothing but pure OT-style Win.

I'm loving this chapter, but I also found a typo in the fire section.
Rather than adding an more to the Fire Size, any extra Fire inches past this limit instead deal 1d4 Fire Damage to a single other object the burning object is touching, as chosen by the player in control of the burning object.
An army marches on its stomach, and its favorite food is fudge.

typo

Heavy Explosion Craters:- Whether the battleground is made of baseplates, tabletops, or carpeting, i's almost never practical to carve divots or bust holes in it when Explosions go off.

And Keep up the awesome work, this is so good I'm missing sleep to read it.

Edit: Just finished reading chapter 8. I have a few questions, firstly can a launcher fire a rocket to give it a range boost? and also could I have an automatic blastgun that could fire multiple blastgun shots? Also I don't think the blast gun would work with low range and damage at anything past point blank.

The new chapter (as with all the ones that precede it) is just terribly impressive, Stubby. A lot of very elegant and simple systems. I especially liked how you've distilled ongoing damage into a basic form which covers a vast array of different damage types. Clever. I'm also impressed with your ability to think outside the box by including Hazards in the Weaponry chapter. And I really liked the way you handle too big weapons, gunnery, and heavies. Very clean.

I honestly don't know much about the Scout's roots aside from what's written in 2001 (maybe I missed something somewhere) but I wanted to say I love the tactical mini-game for which you've presented the opportunity in two opposing scouts.

As a side note, the inclusion of the works of folks on this forum is a treat and it's actually really cool that you've included them to such an extent.

All great work. The only real question I had was whether Gunners who Home In could exceed the initial Weapon Size limitation. It sounds as if they can.

Again, well done. I look forward to the final chapters.

The number Gunners working on a weapon on any given turn is limited by Weapon Size, but as it stands right now I haven't seen any reason to put a hard limit on the Homing In bonus. Blowing the bonus up to something ridiculous like +20 ties down otherwise-useful Gunners for an impractical number of turns, ends as soon as that single target moves or is destroyed, and is still just as prone to Critical Failures regardless of bonus size. Even using it to hit targets Out of Range limits itself by the Damage penalties. So, overall I'm very happy with it.

I think the remaining chapters put together will be about the same amount of work as chapter eight was by itself. There's not much new in chapter 9 unless I decide to bring back vector acceleration (undecided), and the big new Supernatural Dice system for chapter 10 is already largely finalized. 11's getting a bunch of new unit types but they're all fairly cellular in nature, not creating a bunch of new interdependent system interactions like everything in chapter 8. The trickiest work there will probably be in deciding the best way to pare down the Squads rules, which right now are way too kludgey for my tastes and can probably be reduced by at least half. I might end up removing the Officer entirely, or changing his function to a simple Skill bonus for the Squad.

Nope. A Rocket fired from a Launcher uses the Use and Range stats of the Launcher. If you wanted to house-rule it, I'd say if you wanted to add the Ranges of both, you'd also have to add the Uses of both as well.

An automatic blastgun would be a little odd, but you could houserule that one too I guess. A Firing Arc of Firing Arcs would be tough to handle rationally; it's probably easier to just treat them as a more powerful single Firing Arc.

A Size 1" BlastGun should be considered like a flintlock pistol - slightly more damaging at point blank than a modern pistol, but otherwise mostly useless apart from the automatic free Firing Arc. At larger BlastGun sizes, the damage is multiplying a lot faster than the distance penalties which remain the same - it's WS(d8)-distance, not WS(d8-distance), so they get a liitle more efficient.

So either you or stubby blab up about where they are. :P

Table of Contents. There're a couple of upcoming changes to the final chapters that aren't table-of-contented yet, but it's mostly accurate.

I was thinking of having a blastgun that could fire a second arc at a -1 penalty, essentially a MG with the BG damage statistics.

I have one question concerning firing arc's from the 'Your Mom' example he's attacking with two arc's with two of them hitting her, but he gets three hits on her? so if an object takes up multiple arcs it takes one hit for being within the arc's and one more for each arc it's within? and would that apply to a single arc?
Larger targets suffer an extra attack for each point of the Firing Arc they span completely.
doesn't seem too clear

"Spans completely" means that it goes all the way across that Arc from one end to the other. Just being within the Arc doesn't cut it. If there were two points of Arc and she went from the middle of one to the middle of the other, she would be within both of them but not spanning either of them, so no extra attacks.
