Good armour rating for mechs?

Yes, it seems in the past few weeks I have gone mech crazy after playing Mechassault, tearing apart my exo-force models (all 3 of the buggers) to create mechs of my own design. Too bad I never really used those limb parts in my mechs though...
Moving on, I want to ask you how much armour you think they should have? They're around size 3-4 (except tiny mech) and should be compared to walking tanks, but I just don't know! Better/weaker armour or what?
If you want to see pictures of them, first I'll have to get a file on brickshelf, con... vince the FBI into letting me use her camera then uploading them and getting them up on mocpages.

Last game I played I gave all of my full-sized Mechs a Strucural Level of 5. And they still got torn to shreds. It really depends on how you view mechs, either as just another unit in the army, or as world-destroying machines of death.

I prefer mech on mech on random infantry with tank on mech on mech on robotic scorpion on bionicle combat. So I guess that means 3D10 armour.

But it was before they could inflict damage on the other side. That was the problem, they died too easily and then the game was over.

Mecha are, in a sense, walking tanks. So the bigger, bulkier the mech is, the more armor it has.
The little scouts are as tough as cars and the dreadnoughts are tougher than APCs.

I just did a battle with my mechs and well 3D10 armour mechs die to hoardes of infantry very easily, I mean extremely easily so easily infact that I'm beginning to use heavy weapons on the infantry so they can't hurt me. Tiny mech was to only survivor.

Yeah thats how it went down for me too. I'm thinking about giving them double their size in armor so they can actually do their job.

5d10 for size 3, 6d10 for size 4.
IDK, i don't have/like mechs, just a theory.

That is way to much man, it's a bit insane!
the rules say that at structure size 3 it has a 3D10 armor and if it has a structure size 4 it has 4D10 armor and also a structure size 3 is as strong as a castle and a structure size 4 as a nuceliar bunker. The size of the vehicle or building doesn't determents it's armor rating the structure level does.

If you say 5d10 was blown to bits in seconds...Ok, it must be exxagerated.
But, what do you want anyways? If 3d10 and 4d10 are the right, but they're almost nothing and very destructible, then don't use mechs. It seems the only way out.
