He wants you to think logically. Why would commanders put bloodthirsty troopers in a small corvette?(besides espionage etc.)

Bloodthisrty commanders would hire bloodthirsty boarding parties to board ships with not-so-bloodthirsty defense crews.

Bloodthirtsy commanders would use fel beasts as grunts. And fel beasts are too stupid to stay in a ship.
