Scaling the "Compensating" skill.
I have a size 6 tank.but Its weapons are too much for it to fire.Specifically,8 inches too much. So,I would like to know, what would be the cost of adding 8 weapon inches to it,in the same manner as the heavys "Compensating" skill?

Why would you be compensating for something?

Try Divert All Power instead.

But then I can't fire all my guns, all the time. No weapon on the tank is too big by itself,so Diverting Power isn't an option anyways.stubby wrote:Try Divert All Power instead.

Re: Scaling the "Compensating" skill.
I don't have big enough treads for that.
Anyways,I decied to scale is as 1CP for 1 inch for a size 1 unit. so, 4 CP could buy me either 4 weapon inches for a size 1 unit,2 inches for a size 2 unit, or 1 inch for a size 4 unit. So, that means I need to add 48 CP to the cost of my tank.

I think it would be cheaper to just buy the tank as a bigger unit. Assuming you've maxed out the armor at 6d10, it would only cost 24 CP to increase the effective size. And it has the added bonus of allowing it to survive more hits.

6d10 is a little much for a tank. Or, anything minifig-scale, really.Gungnir wrote:I think it would be cheaper to just buy the tank as a bigger unit. I have kind of always wanted to extend Compensating to tanks so that we could have StarCraft-style siege tanks, but I haven't figured out a good handle on how to balance it game-mechanically.
We were talking the other day about building transforming creations; a 4" tank that puts down stationary ground supports and turns into an 8" gun emplacement would be one way to go (you pay the CP for whichever form costs the most, and then spend an Action to transform at the beginning of any turn).
But ideally I'd like to open up the rules to people who don't necessarily have the parts to build a transforming tank. The simplest way would be (+1CP x Structure Level) per inch of Compensating. It's the cost you would pay for increasing the Structure's Size, but without all the advantages of increased Size, so it's not exactly game-balanced. But as a Fudge it should do all right.

You're right, but I'm assuming worst case scenario here.stubby wrote:6d10 is a little much for a tank. Re: Scaling the "Compensating" skill.
So i've decied to buy some SN dice and use them to add to Skill rolls.
