The Narrative Elements [Axeleron Magik System]

Post by Bookwyrm » Wed Sep 09, 2020 12:25 am

Part One: the Inception of Axeleron
(Recommended Listening)

“In the beginning of all things, there was a great void that swirled in the midst of space, and a maelstrom of untamed elements mixing and rotating within it. Across the endless expanses of the Plateau of Leng, the unraveled primordial dimensional threads tangled and snaked together into twisted braids of energy, creating lashing tendrils of Meta that flashed into existence for mere moments before their instability tore them apart into their base components once more.

And thus it was that the Author, seeking a world to call his own, cane across the primeval khaos and saw the potential it held within. First, he divided the dimensional threads, separating them into uniform planes that surrounded the central void, each one composed of and embodying a fundamental Narrative Element;

From the threads of Meta that provided structure and consistency, he created the Plane of Form, the Aether, and used its power to generate a framework for the other elements to coalesce around.

From the threads of Meta that provided concepts and variety, he created the Plane of Dreams, the Primodium, and used its power to fill his creation with diverse new materials and curiosities.

From the threads of Meta that provided thematic resonance, he created the Plane of Motif, the Celestial Realm, and used its power to give meaning to the existence of the new worlds inhabitants.

From the threads of Meta that provided concealment and mystery, he created the Plane of Secrets, the Infernal Realm, and used its power to hide from the minds and eyes of mortals the things that ought not to be known.

From the threads of Meta that provided sequences and patterns, he created the Plane of Flow, the Astral Plane, and used its power to spin the skeins of fate that would be guided by the choices of mortals.

From the threads of Meta that provided emotion and desire, he created the Plane of Will, the Archetypal Plane, and used its power to infuse mortals with personalities and motivations of their own.

From the threads of Meta that provided conclusions and relief, he created the Plane of Catharsis, the Elysium, and used its power to being about the natural endings of all things in their time.

And from the threads of Meta that provided strife and flux, he created the Plane of Conflict, the Underworld, and used its power to to maintain innovation and prevent stagnation from halting the progression of the new paradigm.

Through the coalescing of these eight Narrative Elements were the Metanarrative Planes brought into being, and by their mixing and combining did he also create the lesser Transitive Planes, for the purpose of bringing further steadiness to the newly burgeoning Material Realm; the worlds of Euclid and Neverwhere, of Zion and Duat, of Nirvana and Mysterium, and of Avalon and Bellica.

Then the Author made his final working in the center of these realms, a planet made from both the raw energies of the Metanarrative Planes and the alchemic mixings of the Transitive Planes, and called it Axeleron. To protect the new planet and the mortals and monsters that called it and the surrounding realms their home, he wove them together into a Dimensional Web as one within the Plot. And by the power of the Plot was brought forth all lore and all tales that are now told and remembered upon the world of Axeleron, even unto this very day.”

[AN: The next sections will be appearing in the months to come, and will detail each of the elements as well as give an Overwatch on game mechanics and associated planes. Each element will also have an associated elemental featured as well. This is to follow the Hellhunt, probably starting in November.]
