Basically people allow hate speech because it's "in the spirit" but in the spirit usually implies you don't believe what you're saying but I doubt this guy is "trolling." None of you are minorities so you all think it's all fun and games.

Yeah, I don't even want to touch discord. As far as I ever heard, the only reason discord exists in the first place is to encourage toxicity to thrive and flourish, and it was designed accordingly.

Oh wait, there it is. Yeah, racism between peach and yellow minifigs* is in the spirit of Brikwars, because minifigs are supposed to pick the deliberately stupidest reasons to justify violence. Racism between actual human being races is against the spirit, because humans are supposed to deliberately pick the stupidest option for how their minifigs behave, not for how players treat each other.


* - Racism against brown minifigs has been against the rules for decades though.

I believe the BW Discord at is core is very good, it is a great place to hang out with other birkwarriors. I wouldn't let Robot's statements misguide you, the chat itself is generally stays away from discussion of race and aside from robots foolish and ignorant statements is intact a wonderfully efficient way to get in touch with fellow brikwarriors. If I may be so inclined may I ask who informed you of the discord's "toxic" condition?

Yeah, I don't know about that in a general sense. Discord is just another chat. It has more functionality than mibbit, I guess. Or at least a better, more accessible interface. But I don't think there's anything demonic about it.

As for the rest of it, I'll defend free speech but not harassment. And what it comes down to so long as I hold any kind of modship, I'm going to let you say what you want but if it becomes a problem and I ask you to stop and you don't, I'm banning you. Also, don't "reeee." It's profoundly stupid. See the first...this is my personal annoyance allowance. And, finally, I'm going to respect other mod's decisions. Other than that (unless I've missed something really important...which is probable, really), go nuts.

Also, anyone who doesn't really get the humor and commentary behind this game and its community (such as the difference between minifig and human behavior Mike mentioned) is an idiot and unreservedly deserves to be called out as such. Casually, but powerfully and with finality...the way you might backhand a mouthy minion.

Nothing all that specific, just its reputation as the place that you take your conversations if reddit and 4chan decide you're too toxic even for reddit and 4chan. And its name is literally Discord, which I took as kind of a clue.

I was talking to a friend about how a bunch of white guys get together and "troll" by spewing hate speech and how that's really fucked up because basically they're treating racism, bigotry, sexism, etc as a joke which it totally isn't. By joking about any of these topics you're basically marginalizing and belittling the issues at best and at worst just normalizing these sort of views. I think we need less straight white male mods and more people who are actually effected by these issues.
