I just watched American Beauty for the first time, would highly recommend it.

I swear I'm not just watching Spacey films, but I also just watched Se7en and it was amazing.

New one looks super generic, the only reason I'm interested in seeing it is because Walton Goggins.

You're not missing out on much. Jolie is pretty hawt in those films, but that's about it.
