Brikwars Tutorials

Post by Merlok2pt0 » Fri Oct 14, 2016 9:36 pm

Hey, I'm new here. Are there any tutorials for Brikwars or play-through videos?

Not really but this raises an interesting point that maybe we should throw something like that together. Maybe if I get time I can do it when the 2010 rules are released.

Hell, we could have an official Brikwars youtube channel, posting tutorials, clips from RL games, and maybe forum battle dubs if we're feeling really stupid.

As for learning material, I would say that Zharu II's forum battles tend to make good use of the written rules, so comparing them side-by-side may help visualize things for you.

A Brikwars YouTube channel would be great.

Definitely Overwatch + someone else. If you've seen his Sven co-op Let's Play you know what I'm talking about.

I thought about it. We have fun but I think, perhaps, our games are a bit too serious for a video LP.

No real place for tutorials, though. Everyone seems to play the game a little differently and there's no wrong way to go about it, really, apart from being a rules lawyering, fun murdering asshole.

Bluebright and his crew have done a video. Pretty funny. Not a regular thing but they've got a blog or a website or something. Search his posts, you'll find it.

Thanks Quantumsurfer, I really appreciate everyone's input. Back in the day I played Warehammer 40K. Using Lego as a platform for tabletop war-gaming is genius. No more painting miniatures and plus using LDD to design my armies means there is no limit to my imagination.

If TSS hadn't gotten my youtube account suspended I would have put together a video. Oh well...

Right there with you, Merlok. Only wargame apart from BW that I play with any regularity is HeroScape. I came from 40K myself. I like painting and creating terrain but I rarely have the energy and motivation for it. Lego is easier. And I adore modularity. We started using Lego ages and ages ago in our tabletop rpg group and it stuck. I'm also a big fan of LDD, though for me it's less about being able to design armies I can build IRL and more about exploring the ideas themselves.
