Photofuckit up for customers.

As some of you may have heard, Photobucket is now dabbling in extortion and is now charging $400 (not a typo) a year for people to share images on third-party sites (like Brikwars). This bad news for not only people who are posting, but also a lot of old stuff (like Warhead's) that is no longer viewable on this site. Thoughts on how we fight back?

Photofuckit is a bitch. That's why I use Fuckr. 8)
Sadly, I have no idea how you'd fight back, except for a petition. I think change.org would help you? I 'unno.

I highly doubt that online petitions really do jack shit. Photobucket already cut my bandwidth whenever too many folks looked at my pics, thus I ditched it and went for imgur and Flickr instead.
As for older pics of mine, I can't be arsed to go back and reupload every picture and replace every link in my posts again.

And you guys all thought I was crazy overpreparing.

If pics for famous battles get broken, a mod can go back to Wayback Machine and reupload/restore them manually if they were backed up. I also made offline backups of a bunch of other famous battles and also of all my own stuff. Hit me up if you feel like you need anything I might have. I also have offline backups of the old brikwiki (the wikispaces one), the Fall of Fico posts from King of the Hill, and some other random stuff.

All my stuff was on Photobucket I guess I need to try and move it. :fist: Guess it is for the best for whatever reason my job has blocked Photobucket, but not flicker. :???:

Exactly, that's what I use and I still have access to every single photo I have ever put on the forum!

I've started doing this for Zombie Zulu Dawn. Damn, but Warhead took a lot of photos. It's funny now to read all his complaining about how shit Photobucket was back in 2009.

Anybody who wants to backup photobucket stuff, there's a convenient button that lets you download whole folders at once, even if they're not yours. I started by grabbing all the ZZD photos and re-hosting them onto the brikwars server, and now I'm going through and editing all the old posts to point to the new re-hosted location.
