I keep considering getting KOTOR for my Macbook, but I'm afraid I won't like the RPG gameplay or won't play through all of it due to its length. A frequent problem for me.
GET IT. you will not be dissapoint.

The second one is fun too (gameplay wise), but the beginning and ending suck.

Now for my birthday loot (Oh, God, I might have the same birthday as Silva).

Elder Scrolls: Oblivion (I am now ADDICTED to this game), drum stick pencils, and either $100 toward a modular building set or $150 toward Tower Bridge (as well as $120 in money from relatives).

And clothes.

Happy Birthday! :D

Oh yes Oblivion; - I played and played that game, modded it up and played it some more. It's a very addictive game alright, but Oooooooo so good :)

Really enjoyed Oblivio. Haven't played it recently, but I must get some more time on it before Skyrim comes out in November.

Funnily enough, I've clocked up a lot of hours on Oblivion, but haven't actually been to Kvatch yet - I knew that once you go there, Oblivion gates start popping up everywhwere, and I didn't want that interrupting my explorationof the open world...

Yes I like the exploring part of Oblivion best too. I only ever seriously played the main quest once and having done that it I wasn't so keen to do it again. Perhaps after some more time goes by I might have another go.

I did some quest where I had to kill some slaughterfish (worst little buggers in the world), and then decided to screw it and go dungeon crawling. This turned out to be a great decision, because I found 5 magic items in total. The best part? I've only explored about 10 mines/forts.

I also nearly crapped myself during my first encounter with a troll. I snuck up and shot him with an arrow from far away, and managed to get a few more shots off. Then, I got stuck on a wall while running backwards, and got killed in two hits. :(

I found that Arrows are next to useless (even if you cap someone in the back of the head with one, they just shrug it off like some insect bite). Like any RPG, initially, you’re quite weak, so fighting anything bigger than a 3-legged rat in hand to hand is just suicidal, thus I figured that magic is the only way to go (as you can keep your distance) but takes ages to re-charge. I remember having lots of fun times endlessly running backwards away from bloody skeletons waiting for my magic to re-charge enough to fire off another shot… (for some reason all the places I explored seemed to be full of hard as nails skeletons...).

Of course, things improve once you get a bit of experience… And the exploration is totally addictive – I’d often just wander in a given direction and see what I found next (maybe it’s treasure, maybe it’s a new cave to explore, maybe it’s a large mass of spiky death that is gonna hand me my ass….).

The funny thing is, my arrows did more damage to enemies than my fireballs. Which brings me to my next point:

I fucking hate imps.
