Usually people who have lego collections that big know how much their stuff is worth (I mean, why else would they own so much?) so minifigs are usually sold in separate lots since they're the most expensive pieces.

It would be a better idea to bricklink your minifigs, to get exactly what you want. Bulk collections are great for getting tons of bricks, which is what you actually need to build cool stuff.

I got a free piano from Craigslist once and the guy rented a moving van to bring it to my campus apartment. As he backed up the van he knocked a big branch off from a tree in his yard that fell on his car and took out a corner of his own roof. We put the piano in the house and the RA asked us if it had always been there and we sarcastically said, "No, we bought a piano and put it into a college owned building."

Craigslist is the best.

garage sales man. garage sales.

I get a MASSIVE haul at least once a year.

On the other hand... I have to go out garage saleing every saturday morning -early- in order to get that one big haul... but it's kind of like fishing.
