Sets

Post by Smalex » Sat Jul 18, 2009 2:14 pm

I was pondering about which thread to put this under, so i just put it here.

But any who, I was just wondering what all of you think about which sets (Lego Only) anyone should buy that would be recommended or beneficial for playing brikwars?

battlepacks

Why? A reason might be good Oh Intelligent IQ up the wazzoo one.

I've got tons of minifigs so I would go for anything that looks kill tastic and once I bastardised it to a killing machine of awesome proportions I would ideally trash it in a forum Brikwars. I like the look of the miner sets.

For building a big army quick battle packs and impulse sets are the way to go. Just get a few battle packs and a few impulse sets and you should be ready to go. Then just get a large vehicle set and there's your main unit (and it usually comes with a special character which would then be your hero).

Also, any $10 non-battlepack usually comes with good guys and bad guys (Indiana Jones, pirates, Power Miners) which would let you build up two armies.

I have been thinking about a neat thing that they could do at LUGs. They sometimes have events where everyone buys the same set and has to build something out of it. They could take that and make it into a kind of "booster draft" idea like they have with card games and collectible miniature games. There's a stockpile of impulse sets and $10 sets, everyone pays $30 or so and they get two $10 sets and a few impulse sets to make an army out of. Then they play Quikwars.

NELUG has a battle coming up that will be sort of similar to this idea.

I can't give away too much, but it sounds like it will be amazing.

Well a few non-battlepack sets come to mind as good and easily adaptable to brikwars.

The coast guard copter is good if attach a couple guns to the side, since I'm pretty sure it's based on the Blackhawk.

Another is the cargo plane which might be possable to convert into a bomber of some sort. I don't own it so I can't know for sure

The Indiana Jones lego have alot of good sets. The flying wing is pretty awesome. I don't own these but I've heard they're good Race for the Stolen Treasure, Motorcycle Chase, Jungle cutter, and fighter plane attack.

Pretty much any of the castle stuff if your having a castle themed Brik war

I here most of the Space Police stuff is good and should be easy to use in a Brik war.

The Modular Buildings would be a good battle ground if you can afford them.

ide suggest this set for a quick vehicle:
http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.as ... cn=381&d=9
if you extend the roof of the cab backwards to create a deck area(you will need to us pieces from your collection) but keep the crane, it will be usefull!
it seems odd for a town set to be such a good brikwars vehicle.

and for dice i think get some of the lego games.
http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.as ... n=595&d=70

and if you want to make an army of townies.
http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.as ... cn=356&d=9

and i want to get this last to modify it to post-apoc.

oh and since when was the Millennium Falcon in the clone wars?

This set is pretty much built for Brikwars, its got a giant launcher, room for 2-3 troops + a driver, and giant spikes on the front.

What more could you need then that?
