Do we have any criteria? I'd like to get started ASAP.

My Corvette has been around during 4 G.R.'s now... I need something new to bolster my fleet. Something not quite so ancient.

it has had 3 refit's though each much better. the third one looks completely different to the point of being practically a new ship.

Awesome ships!
Having never built a ship of such size i wonder how they are constructed? From what i have seen and read on the net so far i learned that most large ships are built around an internal Technic frame but i have no idea how this works out exactly. So what are the general principles or maybe there are even some turorials/instructions out there from which one could learn some principle large ship building techniques?

don't consider me an expert but, large ships are either,

A:built brick on brick with some snotted areas, see Natalya's SONKS, and Strana's HODGEPODGE.

B:completely snot with a technic frame (Sometimes designed for minifig compatability) , see LEGO's Venator cruiser set, or there Star destroyers.

Yes. This new refit is changing the ship's classifcation and stuff. It's no longer going to be a Longinus IV-B class. It will now be a Venus Class Destroyer.

But Longinus is sooooooomuch cooler sounding! Make it a C-Type! Many actual ships go through re-fits that change the shape or classification. There not re-named in class;just go down another letter. Case in point: Bunker Hill.

The Longinus series is a long one. Longinus I was the first, but was poorly made. I scrapped it for II, which was a beautiful ship. However I only have construction photos because my brother trashed it the day after it was complete. D: III was a failed prototype. It would have been classified as a heavy destroyer, but I ran out of parts and the design turned out bad so I scrapped it.

The ship would have been huge and would have balanced on the central column, but the engine section was never completed so it didn't balance yet.

The IV series is what it's on now... The original IV was pretty good but the mid-section was rather shabby. The ship wasn't well executed.

Image

This is the original version. You'll note it did not have the huge armour plates at the back, and the bridge module is way different. The mid-ship area isn't so good either.

IV-A saw an improved main cannon housing and the addition of the rear armoured plates. Not much else though. IV-B was a bigger retro-fit with the re-done bridge and mid section. However, all these changes even added together are smaller than what I'm doing to the ship now... The new version is so different that it will have a class change. I'm adding more weapons and stuff as well, and almost the whole ship is getting a make-over. Keeping it a Longinus class wouldn't make sense. The idea behind it was to have a long ship that could attack capital ships and do well, but would need backup itself because it wasn't that well equipped and wasn't very strong. Well, that won't be the case anymore. I need to post some pics of how it currently looks. I've taken it a long way from where it was just 3 days ago before I started all this. Also, all Longinus ships were balanced on a ventral fin situated towards the back of the ship. This new version does not have that, so it's really treason to the name. It's time to retire that brand and go with a new one.
