That's probably one of my least-wanted of the direct only sets. On a related note, I'm getting a nice gift in the form of the Tower Bridge set if I have a 90+ average this semester. I doubt it will happen, but it doesn't mean I won't try! Just today I managed to boost my history mark just by asking my teacher to read over my assignment again.
You can all get back on topic now.

can you say mocfodder?

I've always wanted that set just because of all the minifgs and pieces.
The gray bricks and plates would be especially helpful.

yeah, it wasn't all that appealing to me either, but hey, its got a lot of bley plates and bricks, and I've managed to use almost all of the minifigures it came with in either my medieval or sci-fi forces, so... I'm not complaining

Also, that mini tie-fighter is just adorable, and will certainly show up in the Paladin Corp, albeit a little revised

The thing that turns me off the most about the Death Star set is the sheer price. Let's compare it with the Tower Bridge set (because that's the set i've set my sights on).
The Death Star comes with 3803 pieces, including 19 Minifigs, and costs $500 CAD. Tower Bridge on the other hand, comes with 4287 pieces - 484 more than the DS - and costs $300 CAD - $200 less than the DS. Now, I know the DS comes with lots of Minifigs (and exclusive ones at that), and the licensing along with the Technic parts jack up the price, but that's still a lot of money, and i would never pay that much for just minifigs and a lot of grey parts.
Tower bridge is by far a better deal, costing only 7 cents per piece. But I guess the bridge is only a good set if you need lots of bricks, which is my situation.

haha yeah, but you forget that
I'm not the one whose paying for it

if i had that money to spend on lego, I'd just buy a huge amount of medieval shit, and briklink and brickarms. I didn't get it because its the death star, I got it because my grandma is slightly crazy. but its not like its a bad thing for me, so...

plus the tower bridge doesn't have the pieces I really need, like a bunch of grey/bley and a bunch of mocfodder mimifigs

Nice, The Chicago store has a great selection. I'm going to have to try and head out to the one in Orand Park tomorrow to try and get some series 4.

I just got back from the Lego Store, and made a pretty nice purchase.
13 Series Four Minifigures: 2 Surfer Girls, 2 Sailors, 2 Soccer Players an Ice Dancer, a Mad Scientist, a Musketeer, a Lawn Gnome, a Street Skater, a Viking and a Hazmat Guy. I gave the Viking to my younger brother, and a sailor for my sister.
1 Series 3 Minifigure: 1 Racecar Driver for my brother
A Dastan minifigure keychain for my older brother.
And three $8 with 1x1, 1x2, and 1x3 Lime Green pieces. And some 1x1 White Eyed pieces.
I really was doubtful about Series 4, but the figures are all pretty nice. The Sailor and Hazmat Guy are extremely cool. ^_^

Did you build the Death Star or part it out? If you can get some threads or large wheels and some plates on the outside you might have yourself a rolling Base of Death!

haha no, I have no treads other than the ones on the Micantis

so most, if not all, of the death star will be scrapped before I even build it... might want to make the cannons, then make some modifications, or... something. idk yet
