Alright, I've got something that meets every requirement but one: it's only 40 studs in the longest section. Shall I receive a pardon?

you could just cheat and add an antenai to the front (technically it adds studs but shouldn't affect the ship too much overall)

I'm down to enter mine with yours as a joint-entry.Blitzen wrote:I have a ship, but it's only 10 studs long. Can I still enter?

I think I may add some stuff on the back of it. Like, 40 studs.IVhorseman wrote:I'm down to enter mine with yours as a joint-entry.Blitzen wrote:I have a ship, but it's only 10 studs long. Can I still enter?
Often, literally, a pillow fight but may include similar situations like volleyball, particularly when wardrobe is skimpy and the action is bouncy.
What? Are you in the Armed Forces, or just visiting?ace121 wrote:Just to let you know, since I'm sure you were all crying without me, the reason I haven't been able to post recently is because I'm in Israel, and still will be for another week or so. Still wanna do SHIP contest though. Be back soon. Hopefully won't die.

I think those stats only apply to non-Mexicans.

Okay yeah screw it. I only wanted to enter because my object isn't a space vehicle at all, but technically fills all the requirements but length (barely). Entering a 40-stud long airtight tank would have been uh... pretty funny.

I'm going to eventually scrap my ASHIP, to build a SHIP. So, I'm taking more photo's of her before she goes.

I really like ROC's ship. The ship has a very basic design, but he used star wars hinges to mount armour plates which gives the ship some shape. This is a good technique for creating form.
Umm, my Corvette is pretty old and I didn't do anything like that to give it form. I was more trying to play with inset elements when I designed it, but those can use a lot of parts so I didn't get very far with that. The big example though is the grey band around the neck of the ship. It breaks the ship up in a good way from an artistic standpoint. I was also concerned with giving it tons of armaments, so it's also got the two inset gun turrets.
I tried constructing a ship for this contest, but the design I was using was flawed so I trashed it. I might try something else though, more similar to ROC's approach of having the plates not be the walls, but have them extending off the ship to mask the actual structure which is rather bland. This technique is less complicated but doesn't create as dynamic an interior as having slanted plates actually be the walls.

Thx Natalya, I just used your idea on using hinges from that other thread. I just didn't have the pieces at the time to try and integrate the outer panels as walls. I went the simpler route of making a standard internal hull. I also used base plates at the bottom of the ship since I was limited on parts.
Also some notes on using those hinges, they aren’t very secure or strong. When they're brand new they feel pretty secure, but after a while they start to wear and you get a bit of play when the panel is on. Also, if you’re mounting large panels they start to bend and it's a hassle to get all the hinges to connect to it. And you can't reinforce the panels too much because if they’re too heavy the hinge won't be able to hold it. If you’re going to use this method I suggest smaller panels.
The ship I'm thinking of building will still have the inner hull/outer plate style, but I think I'm going to use a technic frame it seems more sturdy, I just hope I have enough pieces.
I liked the gray area on your ship, it looked like a joiner. It gives it a more realistic feel (btw that's what I would be aiming for if my ASHIP fired on yours, it is the smallest point). And I really like how your ship is able can stand on its own. I didn't have that many pieces when I stared my ship so the internal structure has a very minimum reinforcement. I still have to use mounts to display her. You have a great corvette, I can’t wait to see what you’re going to show us next.

sad news well sort of most people will be happy i will not tho
Any way because of a leaking roof i had to move all of my legos in to a closet till the thing is repaired so i can only get at my models and can't build so unless i get my legos back up this week end i will probably not be getting a ship done
