so I can assemble the Mega Bloks castles and other stuff instead.

You can't assemble Mega Bloks. It's not about preferring Lego or anything; you physically can't assemble Mega Bloks.

I'm still waiting on my Pick-A-Brick orders. And the Grand Emporium looks beautiful. I'm definitely going to start making modular buildings now.

today i got a call from a guy i met a few months back. he works for the got junk truck people. well, today, he had a guy wanting to toss out his child's entire lego collection, said it was well over $1k worth.

not only did i get a matching set of heavy duty luggage(small, medium and large rolling suitcases) but they were all filled to capacity with lego sets.

thankfully, the small one fits under my bed, just. the meduim case is going to be tricky and the large is still in the car since i don't have anywhere to store it yet.

not a bad haul for $150

Some folk are just plain wasteful and have far too much money than is good for them IMHO.

@subyrally: Still it's a good thing your friend was onto it and gave you a call. I would imagine that you'd appreciate all that Lego far more than son of Idiot Man ever did.

ill get pics this afternoon when i get back from paintball. the large suitcase must weigh about 50lbs, damn near killed myself trying to get in the house without waking anyone, lol.

It's true. The shitty quality may cause them to burst apart violently after thirty seconds, but it still counts as assembling. At least for a little while.

The Mega Bloks that are too shitty to stick to each other still tend to work pretty well as accent bits on real Lego though.

The weird thing is that a couple of parts will conect fine but as soon as you try to build something the buil up tensions just rips your creation apart.

The only non-Lego bricks I have on my 'never buy again' list are Best-Lock because boy oh boy do they ever fall apart

Some Sluban stuff should get the rubber chicken award too as various parts are just plain dreadful, but I don't mind buying the sets when they're on discount. But as for Mega Bloks? - for me it's been nothing but unalloyed delight

Best Lock are absolutely awful. They're terrible quality, look awful, have completly different colors than LEGO, break absurdly easily, and are even to a different scale than LEGO (a Best Lock plate is something like .85 the height of a LEGO plate, so no matter what you do, they will never line up.)

I purchased a Best-Lock APC a while ago and I'm STILL trying to get the thing to fit together, stay together and look like it should.

It can be done, just get your sper glue, dremal, and files out.
