unfortunatly, lego needs to adjust for a changing market, the smaller sets are flying off shelves, because poeple have less money, also since thier driving thier online PAB so high people are going there as a last resort rather turning to bricklink and other simnilar sites, one of the reasons also is that there is a huge market that are not kids, and will buy based on best for less, heck i buy mainly from PAB in store (its cheaper but poorer selection than online) and in the discount section, cause anytime they dicontinue a set its up to 50% off. another problem with lego is thier making nicely built sets, but thier using snot and hollowing tactics to reduce cost, quite frankly if they just went with more mass produced brick,1x2, 1x4 2x4, and 2x2 they would probably be better off, also bring back the old raised baseplates, the new pirate raised baseplat, is very badly made and doesn't like to attach to other bases. also extend the series line maybe one force per year in say castle space city, etc. by in large many are over the bionicle craze, and the more advanced builders are looking at contents with an eye to turning the sets into something else. Im reminded of my first City set the Space shuttle that had the USA, stickers on it, i loved that set, i still have the plate and its still in good condition. also that set showed you what elde you could do. because lego is producing so many missmatched peices its raising production costs rather that staying with simpler bricks, that allow a cheaper over all cost of production, because the same piece is being used over and over again. think about the huge curved slopes, theres only so much you can do with them, as thier pretty much always on the outside of a vehicle. imagine the cost of producing just a few of those, rather than, cheaper alternatives.

they should make more 10-25 dollar sets rather than so many 40-150 dollar ones.

Yea, I've noticed that not many sets have actual baseplates anymore. Only the city sets really have baseplates. Did any of the last castle sets have real baseplates? I don't think so. Not even the Endor Bunker has one.

heck making any at all would be nice. i remember that the old sets had small baseplates, 16x16 and such. lego needs to take a close look at what its doing and what people want. Also they are inflating shipping costs by having such big boxes, heck the TWILIGHT set could be up to 50% smaller (box wise), and still fit. and why can't lego put the really small sets in plastic bags, rather than boxes. ie the one man and some stuff sets. these used to be put in plastic bags but not now, and it costs <a href='http://tinyurl.com/y42zurt'>alot</a> more to package twice than once.

Pfft. They've probably run the numbers and figured that bigger boxes equals more sales from people who aren't smart enough to check its weight and part count before buying. I don't fall for the box trick myself, since I mostly buy sets that I've researched and read reviews for, but unfortunately us more intelligent people mustn't make the majority of Lego's customer base.

I'd love to see Lego just flat-out remake Rock Raiders, Ninja and Classic Space, since I came in a little too late to pick up on these wonders. It'd probably be cheaper too, since the older sets tend to use the more common pieces and Lego won't have to make very many new molds, but Lego prefers to release new lines than reuse old ones.
