I think too many people underestimate the usefulness of small scissors, I'd be lost without mine.
Currently they are 6 inches away from my keyboard, in the usual spot.

As a birthday gift to myself several months ago, I also catalogued and assembled all the pieces necessary to build the dragon on this book:
So for my household it has been a LEGO year of the dragon.
