Re: Ken's Brikwarsy Endeavors
Looking very ghetto, my only suggestion would be to add extra plates to the hull, to give it that patchy armoured effect I think you're after.

It's a mammoth-looking armored-sled!

Starting to add armor to the wolf cavalry, but sort of unsure if I like the look or not. What's bothering me the most is the bley stud standing out under the brown clips, which I'll probably replace with the same brown.

I personally dig that, gives the assembly this studded leathery look/feel.

Re: Ken's Brikwarsy Endeavors
Okay. I decided to do the best of two worlds and keep two of them the same, then give the other two the brown studs. Variety is the spice of life, after all. The bley was growing on me too.
But anyway, I'm not sure what I like better here:
I noticed Lego decided to make the new white Ninjago hoods without any printed stuff on them. I then realized I could use them. Here's a comparison shot with two swordsmen, one with the new hood and the old hood.
Sure, I have to add a clip to the back now if I still want to include the throwing spear (which I do), but now the heads are totally pose-able without looking silly and awkward. If anything I might just use the new hoods on the officer swordsmen instead of buying like 23 more copies. Just thought it'd be interesting to compare the two. Thoughts?
Maybe I should have asked this before the update. Oh well.

From the front, the one on the left looks best.
I don't have a strong opinion about head turning.

I think the head turning is good if you want to do some sort of spear wall formation

Older hoods are more practical, depends how cheap you can hoard up newer ones. I feel like the unpainted headcrest is still too obvious looking.
Ever considered this type?

That piece actually looks a lot better. I think that exact black/white mix would work too. I'll look more into this in the future, but yeah. The more I look at the unpainted crest, the more I wonder if I really like it. Also, I could just use white or black clips to make it look more like part of the headwrap instead of the brown.

I would keep the clips brown. A head wrap should just wrap the head, it doesn't need to hold a spear. You'd have some sort of leather sheath on the back to do that.

I'm a sucker for the original Ninja line. Those were the sets that I grew up with.

True enough. Sometime in the future I'll probably end up mix-and-matching stuff. Most of the time when it comes to customizing minfigs I'm rarely happy with the result. Damn perfectionism!RedRover wrote:A head wrap should just wrap the head, it doesn't need to hold a spear.
If you'd call it that.
Yeah, there's a whimsical and classical look to those hoods. I almost feel bad trying to "freshen" them.Zupponn wrote:I'm a sucker for the original Ninja line. Those were the sets that I grew up with.

Working on a little scene for the Holidays. Been planning on doing this for a bit now and hopefully it'll be done before the start of next year.
It's going to be a soap and maybe it'll even lead into a forum battle. Who knows.
