*recommended listening*

The Brawler is another variation of the older, bulkier style of mech suits in used Perwar. It was specifically designed to counter other units, which are generally focused on ranged weaponry. The Brawler has better limb articulation and heavier armor to endure severe punishment and wreck anything that is thrown into its way. The Klang-Klang Custom benefits from the addition of a pair of DashBoost boosters, which can be deployed for sudden rushes and lunges. Against the Brawler, you better get ready or soon you will get rekt.

The hunch-back look works really well for golems and mechs in my opinion, and as an added bonus the mask bears a brilliant resemblance to hello kitty having a temper tantrum. The thruster wings on its back are a nice touch too.

Man, at this point can we just give Zahru the title "Lord of Mid-scale mechs" already? He clearly deserves it and if he keeps building them at this rate by 2020 he'll be able to take down an Armored Core by sheer weight of mid-mechs.

Agreed, though in this case I can't really approve of the design until he uploads a shot of it giving the finger.

how are you attaching these bionicle masks to the cockpits? The way you've taken the pictures, it almost seems like they are hinged on, or just made to look so, although I'm unaware of how that might be possible.

Bionicle masks made between 2001 and 2003 use round, stud-like connections which allows you to stick them to the undersides of bricks and plates. I mount mine on clickhinges.

It is a solid (if I were to shake the completed model like a baby the mask would probably stay on firmly), albeit single-studded connection, so it comes with all the downsides of those (ie: it might snap off accidentally).

You can do the same trick with the rubbery krana and krana-kal masks, although you have to use a 1x1 round plate as an 'adapter' because krana connectors are seated a bit deeper.

Newer masks/helmets use standard technic axles. Hero factory masks from 2011 are the most tricky since they either have system bars or system bar-compatible holes as a means of connection. For the former, I figured using this type of 1x1 round plate works best for bridging the gap between CCBS and system:

I didn't experiment with the latter type of helmets yet since they are too tiny to work as mecha cockpits.

viddy well sah! I was aware of the stud like outcropping on the masks, yet unaware that it was stud sized.

can i get a breakdown of your various models? i am trying to take the kai fire mech (the 10x i have) and turn them into suits similar to this and would like some pointers to get them going in the right direction.

I'll have a go at it on LDD later next week and post the .lxf in the armory's LDD subforum.
