09 sets

Post by StormbringerGT » Sat Dec 20, 2008 9:59 pm

The 09 sets have been in TRU for over a week now. What do you think of them? I like the new Star Wars ones. The battle pack for the clones are pretty cool. I didnt like how I had to drive all the way out to a Lego Store to get the Republic Tank, but its a pretty cool set. Expensive though. It doesn't feel like a $60 set. Here are the ones I picked up.

Star Wars:
Clones Battle Pack (got a few of these)
Assassain Droids Battle Pack
Hyena Bomber Droid
Darths TIE
Republic Attack Shuttle (very cool)
AAT

I picked up the whole new set of power miners and pirates as well. I havent gotten around to building them yet though, I'm still reeling from the money dent they left.

Anyway whats your thoughts on the new sets.

The power miners look like they have a lot of potential for interesting pieces and a lot of unique colors in there as well!

TRU's prices are a rip-off. They raise the prices by 2-5 bucks on all of their LEGO. I use Target and S@H.
I think those stats only apply to non-Mexicans.

Yeah I picked up the whole star wars sets listed, the whole Power miners set and the entire pirates set. They just had a new ad today with some of them in it.

Also the Lego Castle Village Center comes to the Lego store on january 5th.

My buddy who works for lego stated that he thinks that TRU won't carry the village square.

Also yes TRU does charge a few dollars more per set. The more the set the more they charge. However the Lego store by us isn't that close, they don't have any of the new items in except the clone tank and neither does shop at home.

Yeah, I was at Toys R Us (TRU) yesterday. They had the power miners, pirates, and the new Indiana Jones sets. I was at the Lego store the day before and they're not carrying any of it. I was SOOOooo close to buying the IJ flying wing set. But, I was put off by all the green in it. I saw a pic of their first version of it when it was gray, I would've picked that up in a heartbeat.
